Scars and blemishes…wedding worry!

I’ve found my wedding dress but I don’t know what to do about my skin. I’m very fair and have scars from bites and blemishes. I do have (what’s that thing called when you have bumpy arms) so overall my skin is an issue.

I’ve heard salycilic acid is good but in what form? I’ve tried exfoliating and moisturing for weeks and it’s not done much!

any advice would be great!

Inset bites just to be super clear 😂

Would a spray tan hide anything?
Not sure if it would make your dress orange though!

Or a body cream that has a glittery shimmer to it?

Wallawallakoala · 03/06/2023 23:09

I’ll definitely get a light spray tan I’m hoping that will help!

"Chicken skin" my family call it! I researched it widely when DD became very self conscious at 12 yrs old. A very simple regular routine of exfoliating and moisturising and it was hugely improved by week 3.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 04/06/2023 00:05

Cerave SA cleanser and Cerave SA moisturiser in a tub are very good for this. They’re reasonably priced as well and big pack sizes.

Wallawallakoala · 04/06/2023 13:41

Thanks I’ll give it a go!

the exfoliation is just not doing anything for me but I may need a different one!

When is the wedding?
honestly I wouldn’t start a new active if it’s just around the corner just in case you get some purging of the area.
can you test the spray tan now?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 04/06/2023 17:39

Keratosis pilaris is the official name for it. As above exfoliation and moisturiser but the right one, something that doesn't block your pores and helps to remove the excess keratin.

Also and I know it's not as good as an instant fix but honestly lots of water and a good diet do help. My KP was much much better a couple of years ago when I'd lost a couple of stones, was doing regular exercise and drinking 2lts a day.

Jumperwoo · 04/06/2023 17:43

Seconding the Cerave SA moisturiser, that stuff works wonders for KP!

SausageRoll2020 · 04/06/2023 17:46

Might be worth getting an appointment with a dermatologist if you've still got a while to go until the wedding.

Other wise speak with your make up artist and see if there's anything they can do on the day to cover up blemishes etc

Clymene · 04/06/2023 17:48

KP can be fixed quickly using a cream with urea in it. Foot cream works well.

nahwhale · 04/06/2023 17:54

When is the wedding? Is the dress strapless?

TheCheeseTray · 04/06/2023 18:07

Walk and a thorough through dry

not too much washing either

drying is the thing that cleared up all my skin spots on larger ones - metanium is the cure all - every spot in this family gets it and it’s gone in 24 hours

be careful it stains so rub it in well

Branster · 04/06/2023 18:12

Use Ameliorate moisturiser for chicken skin.

Use an insect bite cream (ask pharmacist) on all insects bites.

Use an insect repellent spray/cream to prevent further bites until and during the wedding.

Makeup will cover a lot of things so don't panic.

Assignedtoworryyourmother · 04/06/2023 18:13

Korea Italy towels for the KP.

CombatBarbie · 04/06/2023 18:23

For the bumpy arms I love soap and glory flake away!!

Blemishes etc the me+ salicylic acid body gel is good.

Wallawallakoala · 04/06/2023 18:39

Some brilliant ideas, I’ve started to be more conscious of being hydrated so that’s a good point. The wedding isn’t until December so have a while. The dress has straps but a very low back and my arms will be on show.

on slimming world too and a few lbs down so I need to keep on with a more healthy diet I’m hoping that combined with your other suggestions will help!

Ah December! Lovely! Anyway - brides all look their best on their wedding day. They just do.

You could consider a stoll?

Wallawallakoala · 04/06/2023 18:41

Ooh just googled the Korea Italy towels they look worth a go!

love soap and glory too.

the stronger ones I’ll do a bit of a test to see how they go, luckily it’s not in a few weeks or anything so gives any initial reactions time to settle down ha!

Yeah something light to cover would be good especially in winter! I might go for a cathedral veil too so that would help!

I have metainium so I’ll give that a go

Thank you all for being so kind and helpful, I’m sure some of these will make a difference and be a massive confidence boost

Soap and glory body exfoliating is a miracle worker!!

Why not splurge on a beautician appointment? I rarely go but when I do, (and I've used same for years) she's full of advice and tips for whatever's bugging me
