Skincare routine for beginner

I’ve hit my mid forties and suddenly realised that I’m looking old! My current skincare routine of washing my face and using whatever moisturiser is on offer needs an upgrade. I’m a bit clueless though.

Where do I start? What brands / products? I am happy to treat myself so budget is ok, but I’d ideally like to keep it fairly simple rather than multiple products.

The old adage cleanse, tone and moisturiser is still true although you may want to add in a serum.

Then I use Vegan essence ( free in a beauty box)
Followed by nip&fab dragon's blood serum
Finally Nivea day cream SPF15
and if I'm going out Superdrug facial sport

Evening same as morning but using Nivea night cream.

You don't need to pay a lot for decent products

Make up removed
Cleanse
Exfoliate (a couple of times a week)
Tone
Serum
Moisturise

Thanks! What’s the difference between removing make up and cleansing? And what are toners and serums for that is different to cleansing and moisturising?

Micella water to remove make up
hot cloth cleanser
serum
day/night moisturiser
hand cream!

wear spf daily, drink lots of water, get 8hrs sleep, avoid alcohol and cigarettes. These will make you look far younger than any creams and potions on the market
