Lightweight cotton loose shirts for holiday sun cover-up?

Anyone seen loose cotton or linen shirts that are really lightweight? Definitely something with a collar, 3/4 sleeves would be perfect, or long that I can roll up. I've had a search online but it's hard to figure out how thick / thin the material is.

Zara have a range of button up sleeve ones in linen in loads of colours.

I got an amazing one from Peacocks of all places but I think it's sold out now.

I like the Uniqlo ones - mens' range for extra length. But they are not the gauzy kind of super lightweight fabric if that is what you are after. The weave is dense enough to give very good SPF.

justawee · 02/06/2023 07:19

They had them in primark

Sadik · 02/06/2023 08:31

Thanks, I'll have a look through, some good suggestions. Don't know why I didn't think of Uniqlo, their stuff fits me well. I'm short, & it's to wear over trousers / dress etc so length isn't an issue.

I realise my OP wasn't really that clear, when I say holiday think walk on the coast / pub gardens etc - I'm in Wales, so shirt cover-up may sound excessive but I burn at a sniff of sun.

(I don't wear a swimsuit at the beach other than for swimming & usually wear a rash vest / swim shorts then along with the waterproof factor 50 Grin )

Just jumped on to suggest asda as well - they are really lightweight but seem decent quality.

WinchSparkle80 · 02/06/2023 08:37

I just bought these to wear with shorts for work calls at least my top half is smart, but then might be useful on holiday too.

I was on holiday last week and took the M&S oversized linen shirts with me. So useful to wear on the beach, when out in the sun, over a pair of shorts for breakfast etc. It was quite hot and sunny where we were and I never got too hot at all.

Cantonet · 02/06/2023 10:23

I love the m&s beach shirts in crinkled cotton muslin. As they don't need ironing, unlike linen.

Sadik · 02/06/2023 11:16

I can drop into marks tomorrow, the crinkled muslin sounds like it might be just the ticket

Got mine from Matalan.

MarkWithaC · 02/06/2023 13:00

I had an M&S one last year, really lightweight semi-sheer. Not collared, but they might have collar ones too.
Or 'surfy' places like White Stuff, Fat Face etc?

lindyloo57 · 02/06/2023 17:44

Can you link the muslin shirt at m&s I can't see it online

Zara have a range of button up sleeve ones in linen in loads of colours.

I was going to say the same. Loads in Zara this season.

Mumsnut · 02/06/2023 17:51

M&S had a giant cotton one in zingy orange when i was in there recently

Cantonet · 02/06/2023 18:33

Here's a picture of the M&S beach shirt.
Asda do a short sleeved beach shirt but only large is left.

I have this, it's lovely as a cover up, almost like muslin...

Hi OP I’m also super pale and burn easily. I own two of the Marks oversized linen shirts and the collarless long line beach shirt. I do recommend both and the different cuts give different looks, but the colllarless one is best for really hot days as it’s much lighter. The fabric is very fine so you can gather it up to tie it at the front or tuck in without loads of bulk.
