Hair colour - chemical burns - can any hairdressers advise?

Last month I had my hair coloured at my usual salon, usual stylist. I have a medium brunette all over perm colour every 10 weeks or so.

This time the tint for the roots which was applied first really bothered me on one side next to my ear. The other side a little too. I said it felt a bit off, stylist said if it’s burning we can take it off. I decided I was being crazy as nothing like this has happened before 😂

Anyway, when it was being washed off it felt stingy on one side but didn’t think much of it. Fast forward as I left the salon, it clearly had affected the skin as it was all wet, skin broken and later on it crusted up and had basically burned the skin in front of my ear.

I had a skin test the first time I’d gone to that salon again for colour about 9 months earlier and all was fine.

Can this just sometimes happen (my skin being an issue) or can the mix be made up wrong?! I’ve not been in touch with salon yet 🤦🏻‍♀️.

You can become allergic to hair dye at any time. Things like pregnancy, a change in medication or a recent virus can cause your skin to change. Tell the salon and I would have another skin test before colouring your hair again. They may be trying a new developer or something.

Thank you @pecanpie101 , I had a baby a year ago but had colour since then but could be down to that. Will contact salon before my next appointment, thank you so much!
