When to get the wedding dress?

Getting married September 2024, will be 46 at the time, size 8, 166 cm tall, just on the border of petite. No idea what to buy for a dress, but definitely want a dress and a white one, but overly bridal. When would you say I should commit to something by? I don’t want to leave it to last minute but have not fallen in love with anything and the length is always an issue, and I have no bust to speak of, so kind of uninspired to even look, as nothing will fit me…

I bought mine from a bridal shop 7 months before the big day and the store considered that to be a little bit late! I went for an alteration appointment two months before the big day. You have time! I found mine via attending The Wedding Show exhibition which I found very useful. A lot of vendors under one roof, a great opportunity to get inspo and contact details for various things.

Congratulations!

I would ignore bridal shops altogether and start, in a leisurely way, to scour all the best and most fashionable clothes shops - Matches, Net-a-Porter, Browns. Take some time to get an idea of what you’d really like, and how much you’re likely to need to spend. That way there’s absolutely no need to ‘commit’ to anything aeons before the event. You’re sure to find something perfect in a much more organic way.
