Do knee length summer dresses no longer exist?

I’m attending a wedding party (evening do for a wedding that happened last year) in the summer and just can’t find a single dress I like. I’m mid 50’s, a fairly curvy size 10 and 5’ 3 in height.

i don’t want one of the maxi/midi floral dresses that the shops are swamped with now and many of the online options only offer mini as an alternative. My legs are fairly decent but my years of having them fully on show are behind me!

I need suggestions for somewhere that sells summer dresses that won’t swamp me in layers of floral frills and make me feel like I’m wearing a tent - do such places even exist any more?

I buy mini dresses from tall sections- I have a couple of cute Boden ones

Have you looked at Roman and M&S?

I like Popsy for summer dresses as a curvy woman, they're most Jersey with pockets and such so maybe not the best choice for a wedding if you're wanting something a bit more structured, but they do do alterations for free, so if you see something you like that's in a maxi style, they will shorten it to your desired length.

I get these... many many designs and pockets too which are always a bonus. They say midi but always come up a little shorter I find depending on the design x

SHEIN also have a lot of knee length summer dresses

Thanks for the suggestions so far - I’ve tried Roman and M&S but will have a look at Popsy. M&S have better stuff these days however still don’t seem to have mastered the art of stocking the most common sizes for more than a week!

@anon2022anon good idea about buying minis in a tall fitting, I shall go back to Boden with that in mind.

The dominance of the long floral tent with frills is utterly depressing at the moment!

You could buy a midi dress and put the hem up/lop off 20cm and re-hem it. It would be a fairly cheap alteration if you didn’t want to do it yourself.

Have a look at Silkfred

Have a look at Closet London. I have a couple of their "tulip" dresses which are a really lovely cut and look great on - I'm also 5'3" and they are knee length on me. They're quite hard to find on the Closet website but if you do an internet search for "Closet London tulip dress" quite a lot come up. There are also quite a few on eBay/vinted. I'd say size up as they do run on the small side

Check the measurements on the website. I was put off buying a dress from Next which was sold as a mini until I saw someone wearing it. Mine came this morning and just hits the sweet spot below your knees where they go in. The most flattering length and the dress looks lovely on.

What is your budget?

Whistles petite had some just below the knee, although unfortunately majority seem sold out. I found they didn’t have too much material etc ( also 5’3 and curvy 10).

If you had more to spend Gerald Darel had some nice knee/just below dresses if you can find them anywhere. Didn’t have lots of the tiering etc.

Worth doing a search on John Lewis as well as they had some knee length dresses too last time I looked.

Jigsaw also had a linen t shirt dress that actually looked much nicer on than I thought it would and could be dressed up.
