Sunscreen for face that doesn’t make your eyes sting

Please recommend me a sunscreen for my face that won’t make my eyes sting and start streaming tears.

SPF50 preferred. I have tried a few in the past including a couple from Dermalogica and, in the last couple of years, the Biore Watery Essence which was ok initially but my eyes now react to it.

I have just had a mole removed from my face and I need to protect the healing skin from the sun so I am keen to get something that is eye-irritant free. Budget very flexible.

I use the Soltan one for the face, not the one in the completely orange tube. It’s the only one I’ve found that doesn’t sting in water.

I find the mineral/ chemical free sunscreens don't irritate my eyes

EversoDisorganised · 29/05/2023 13:03

Ultrasun doesn't irritate mine

Agreed

I've got ridiculously sensitive skin, rosacea and other conditions
I only have to walk past the cosmetics and boots and my skin erupts

Dermalogica is good, but you have to keep reapplying it every 2 hours. I tried Soltan once from Boots factor 50, and I've been using it a few years now without any problems. They now do a soltan once factor 50 age defence, if you are in your 50s like me

The Altruist Face Fluid is good.

La Roche Posay from Boots. Specifically non stingy and it’s the only one I can wear. SPF 50 too

Following for tips. I once drove home from the beach and on the motorway my eyes started stinging and watering like mad from the sun cream was very scary.

The only one which has worked for me so far is the Cerave factor 50 facial moisturising lotion. All of the others make my eyes sting and water

Godofwar · 29/05/2023 13:30

I use the La Roche Posay Anthelios too. It’s fab and doesn’t make my makeup pill

Thanks all, I will take a look at the suggestions. I find that there is so much choice it becomes quite confusing trying to find something suitable.

I have a solait face one which is ok but leaves a white shadow.
the nivea q10 face one is awful for me. I can only apply it under the eyes.
I wonder if sports ones are better?

I’ve had the same happen on several occasions when using various different brands. I think the worst was when I was using Dermalogica, we were on holiday and I was driving and my eyes just started streaming and wouldn’t stop.

I use a Clinique one that does the job well without stinging

lovemycbf · 29/05/2023 22:47

I use either Eucerin face sunblock for oily skin or Boots do a factor 50 foundation both which do not make my very sensitive skin sting or react

Bovrilla · 29/05/2023 22:49

Sunscreen allergy here

Mineral only for me. I Iove the Korean Sunprise Mild Airy Finish factor 50. It's the only mineral one that doesn't give me spots!

the Ordinary mineral one was greasy. The Inkey list one was ok. Gave me spots though. The Sunprise one is superb.

TheMindfulMum · 29/05/2023 22:50

Are any suitable for children or can anyone recommend a children's sun cream that won't sting their eyes when they are in and out the water constantly?

LetticeProtheroe · 29/05/2023 23:03

The only one that doesn't make my eyes sting is the Bondi Sands tinted cream (not the fluid) Weirdly the non-tinted one makes my eyes sting. I buy it on justmylook and is regularly on offer.
