Shampoo for grey hair

Prairie21 · 28/05/2023 22:10

I'm 'only' late 30s but my grey hair seems to have multiplied fast recently. It's also shorter hair which goes all all fuzzy at the top and is really noticeable.

I'm hoping not to have to dye all my hair yet as i always get compliments on my natural hair colour and how glossy and healthy it is. I seem to remember reading here about a shampoo that might hide the grey hair a bit.

Any recommendations?

Ooh, I could have written this!
Sorry no advice but watching with interest...

What about just for men? I know the clue is in the name so to speak but surely it must work just as well in womens hair as long as its not been precoloured. I know it comes in different shades, and colours grey gradually when shampooing in. Sorry im fully grey and thought that the title might have been a recommendation for grey hair shampoo and this is the only colouring shampoo i know 😆.

Do you want to tine the grey colour into your natural colour , or brighten the grey
Superdrug do bottles of wash in/wash out colours
There's a gloss "Glaze" in a round bottle (I;ve only tried the clear one though)
Aveda do shampoos with colour toning ( Camomile /Clove/Blue Malva used to be Madder Root and a very dark one too)

If you want to brighten the grey there's loads like Fanola

Grey hair likes to sit in a wirey little halo round your head so conditioning treatment is key
And it grabs colour as it is porous but fades quickly

Ah yes I can see my title is confusing!

I mean shampoo to hide the grey hair and make it blend with the rest of my hair a bit more :).

I will check out some of these suggestions!

Plantur 39 or if that's too expensive, John Frieda Defying Grey

Dark hair going grey. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/styleandd_beauty/4643812-dark-hair-going-grey

I've been using Plantur 39 for about a year now, and apart from the previously colour part at the bottom, it looks like the photos of the other poster in that link. Looks like gentle highlights rather than grey streaks.

No shampoo works. I've tried them all. What DOES work if you've got a few hairs you want to blend on hairline and parting is Colour Wow. It's a brush on powder. Expensive but you only need a tiny bit. Don't go near any sprays - they are awful. Particularly the Josh Wood ones.

The Superdrug one works for me. It doesn't hide the grey but it makes it less obvious. The powder ones work well enough for video calls.
