Spf for face questions

I recently bought the Cerave face moisturiser with spf but it made my eyes sting and water so I’ve stopped using it. Don’t want to waste any more money so wondering is it best to buy an actual suncream for the face & use that and then my tinted moisturiser (which is spf 15) or foundation on top?
Can anyone recommend something that won’t cause my eyes to sting/water?

I use la Roche-Posay spf 50 every day under my make up. It's a bit pricy but the only one I've ever used that doesn't make my eyes sting. I've got really sensitive skin too.

Littlemiss74 · 28/05/2023 12:15

@Wantabub thank you is that classed as a moisturiser too or just a suncream?

I use garnier factor 50 over makeup spray.

Another vote for la Roche-Posay 50 Antihelios - very watery, leaves no white marks or stickiness, can use it under make-up/tinted moisturiser. I paid £19.90 for it in an independent chemist this week, but see that Boots were doing it for £16. Bioré watery essence is another good one - very similar to La R-P, usually a bit cheaper, but you have to order online, and I had run out (just as we get a lot of sunshine).

I find I am getting a little bit of rosacea atm so sunscreen is a must.

Its just an SPF. I use boots collagen own brand underneath which is SPF 30 but i find SPF 50 on top really saves my skin in the sun.

I use this Garnier one on top of my usual moisturiser and then foundation on top. Sounds like a lot on your skin but you don't need a lot and you just need to make sure you leave it a minute to sink into your skin.

I recently bought the Nars Pure Radiant tinted moisturiser SPF30.

The INKEY List Polyglutamic Acid Dewy Sunscreen SPF30, 50ml amzn.eu/d/cDa9oRn

I use this - it's lovely and doesn't make my eyes sting at all, it's not gloopy or tacky when it's on either.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I’ll have a look at these

I also use the Garnier 50 plus after using the LRP for years.

waterlego · 28/05/2023 18:18

Another vote for the LRP.

I use this one. It's non greasy and goes in well without a residue

I had exactly the same problem with Cerave spf face moisturiser OP.
I now use Garnier Ambre Solaire Spf 50, it's usually on offer in Boots. I put moisturiser on first, then the spf and finally foundation or tinted moisturiser.

My sensitive skin doesn't react to this spf and it doesn't sting eyes.

I just got the garner factor 50 serum spf to try out after colleague recommended. She said it's doesn't feel like normal sun cream and hasn't broken her out or stung her eyes like others. It's on advantage offer in Boots just now. Going to use it under non spf moisturiser in morning instead of usual serum and top up with over makeup spray if need be during day

Garnier one here too. It's the bollocks.
