Any Invisalign aficionados??

Need some invisalign sounding boards.

Had mine fitted in feb with a 28 week plan (just over half with bonds then 3 months without). was well prepared for it to be longer but at every check things seemed to be progressing and and I need no refinements - next set always went in fine and I could see they were moving, this was apart from the last few trays, they were still fitting but not as well and the movement seemed to have slowed.

I went on 20th May for what was supposed to be my bond removal.

Now side note to this is my orginal dentist had gone on mat leave before this bond removal app. I was not told this would happen when I started the treatment.

They have a replacement who did my bond removal but honestly I'm not sure how experienced she is, the appointment was chaotic.

I said I felt the movement had slowed and last couple of trays were not fitting so well. She looked at all the CGI images and said they looked on track and that they would bring it up to spec with a composite veneer (this had been mentioned as a possibility).

So this was done last week, as wasn't happy with them they look okay but not 5k okay....then the below has happend.

She scanned me for the new set of aligner trays without the spaces for the bonds - the ones you wear for 3 months, and said I should continue to wear my last set but only on my bottom teeth as the old one wouldn't fit properly over the new veneer. Then gave me an app to fit the new ones 11 days later.

I didn't question at first but then I thought should I really have been left that long without anything, my orginal dentist was adament that I should alsways keep my previous weeks set safe jic because as soon as theyre off the teeth can start to move and if you loose a set you can just put the prev ones back in as better than nothing - well that is what has happened my top teeth have moved quite a bit in the past 8 days, I can both see and feel it. I'm so gutted.

Also I'm sure they were supposed to whiten them and clean them which they didn't do, the new veneer looks loads whiter, especially in comparison to the same tooth on the other side (iykwim).

I'm just really gutted.

That's total shit from your dentist. They should have given you an interim retainer within 48 hours ideally.

I didn’t think it was right @shakeitoffsis are you a dentist. What can I do ask for bonds back on and some more trays??

I'm an orthodontic dental nurse. Teeth will always try and move back to where they were before if they aren't held with something. It doesn't matter about the bonds it's the teeth they need stability and if they have moved then they will have to rectify it.

After I finished I had a metal retainer behind my teeth as well as the plastic retainer that I wear at night. I wore my last tray for longer whilst they sorted these. I now use whitening gels in my retainers. You need to complain, is the mat cover dentist Invisalign qualified?

I had Invisalign. When I got to the end of my treatment they put wires on the back of my teeth which I'll have forever.

My last set of retainers wouldn't fit over them so I had to wait two weeks for new ones. I was then told to wear them for 22 hours a day for 6 months or my teeth would move. Couldn't understand why they didn't move in the two weeks but they didn't - and the new retainers fit fine (and still do!).

thank you @shakeitoffsis i am so upset, I’m just baffled as well - the retainers she said would be back in a week but couldn’t fit me in for 11 days it was only when I noticed them having moved on day 8 I thought crap I need the retainers, tried to get last Thurs but mat cover was not in and really had it pressure them, finally agreed to give me them on Saturday. But already too late.

No!

A retainer takes 5 mins to fit they shouldn't have removed everything without being able to book your ret fit in. Hope you get sorted.
