Trying to achieve beachy waves!

FB keeps telling me via it's algorithms that I don't have the straight hair I thought I did but have the potential to achieve beachy curls. When air drying I do have some waves on my bottom layers so I want to explore further but don't want to spend a fortune on Merwaves or what have you.

Does anyone have any tips? I've got microfibre hair towels as it is so have looked up 'plopping' scrunching etc. I'd love some tips, products or experiences of trying to achieve waves!

my hair is naturally wavy but if I plait it damp it's very wavy. Spray on some wave spray?

I use a salt spray and twirl my hair while it's wet, it dries into lovely beachy waves.

Finding the right product is key. I've found Umberto Gianni has some good styling products for wavy hair.

I've never got nice waves just from drying it or plaiting it alone. I do my beachy waves with a hair straightener!

I have the Umberto Gianni curly starter kit, can't wait to try it!

I discovered my waves recently. All I do is wash with normal shampoo and conditioner (tried some sulphate free stuff for curls and it was like washing my hair in Vaseline), squeeze some of the water out, put in plenty of curl cream while still in the shower and scrunch it a few times. Then put it up in a towel for 5-10 mins and go to bed with it damp. Wake up with lovely waves and get loads of compliments. I’m sure this method would not work for everyone but it’s super low effort and I’m happy.

I've got a Toni and Guy gadget that's like a MASSIVE crimper and it does great waves.

So, it did kind of work! Attached is before and after! This is normal shampoo, the scrunching jelly, 'plopping' in a microfibre hair towel! Excuse my editing haha.

@ILookAtTheFloor what jelly did you use? What's plopping?

Looks good!

I just wash mine & leave it to dry naturally.
