Sunscreen that doesn't sting eyes!

I'm sitting here with one eye shut, streaming and burning. I've rinsed with saline and eye drops but suppose I just have to wait for it to ease off.

Obviously I don't put cream IN my eyes but just putting it around them it melts into them and stings.

Can anyone recommend a sunscreen that won't do this? Not too expensive please, ideally under ten pounds. I use factor 30 but suppose higher is ok. Thanks!

Also for me please.

I bought Bondi Sands mineral one in the hope that it wouldn't sting eyes but it does.

I really like the spray ones for my face - they're so light my eyes don't water!

The Garnier one (in boots) is good, can go over or under makeup. I think it's maybe a little more than ten pounds, but I really recommend.

I have often had this problem and have found that- unfortunately- I need to spend a bit more on one that doesn’t sting my eyes. I’m currently using La Roche Posay Anthelios which is about £20 for a very small bottle. But it does seem be lasting quite a while and I only use it on my face (use much cheaper ones on my body) so hopefully will get my money’s worth. Will be keeping an eye on the thread to see if there are any cheaper recommendations!

Had this problem for years before finding Anthelios by La Roche-Posey. It's eye-stinging free and full spectrum UV protection.

I'm photosensitive too so must wear high factor sun cream, and having to choose between coming out in huge sun welts or having streaming eyes was no fun. This has changed everything!

Snap, Waterlego!

waterlego · 26/05/2023 11:11

Ha! It’s great stuff isn’t it @WishIWasACavewoman?

Thank you for your recommendations! Sounds like I might have to pay a bit extra then. Smile

No good for everyday use or under makeup, but Boots Soltan make a solid stick of SPF 50 which doesn’t sting eyes. I use it for the kids.

Another vote for Anthelios. It’s the only one I’ve found that DD and I can wear on our face.

WoofWoofBeachLife · 26/05/2023 12:24

I buy a specific face one which has never stung my eyes. I've used hawaiian tropic face or Piz Buin with no poolside drama. It's the pits when it goes in your eyes, I get the full on runs, snots and burning 😄
I'm interested in the one highly recommended above as I'm sweating so much with medication and hormones and don't want to risk a walking drama 😅 xxx

Cerave 50 face

WarriorN · 26/05/2023 12:52

Altruist is amaaaazing but doesn't work with eye make up

cannaethink · 26/05/2023 13:09

Nivea shine control spf 50 doesn’t sting mine at all. It’s between £6 and £9 depending on the shop.
Ambre Solaire anti age super uv spf 50 was the worst for stinging so avoid that one!

I am in this boat. I also have an LRP solid spf stick that I top up under my eyes/high points on my face throughout the day.

WishIWasACavewoman · 26/05/2023 14:11

Taken a note to look for the solid stick as a handbag essential @peachespeachespeaches - somehow I've missed that!

Moredarkchocolateplease · 26/05/2023 14:19

DH wears Avene mineral but it's about £20 but it doesn't sting when everything else does.

Newt13 · 26/05/2023 16:25

I had that problem and found Bioré UV doesn’t sting. It also comes at SPF 50+ and Superdrug now sells it.

Mum456 · 26/05/2023 21:49

Worth trying the bondi sands hydra range. The hydra face fluid is brilliant as it the Body Shop skin defence spf
