I've been home dyeing my hair various shades of brown/auburn since I was in my twenties just to have a change every now and then. Over the last five years I've been using lighter and lighter shades and they really took to my hair, leaving me blonde (but with an orangey tint after a few weeks). All around my hairline, front and back, is white when the roots show through. I decided a few months ago that I didn't want to keep dyeing it any longer and went to my hairdresser and explained this. She highlighted my hair a very pale blonde and put a grey toner on. I loved it at the time but obviously the toner faded and I now have three and a half months worth of roots showing. Around the hairline is white, but the remainder is salt and pepper. I really, really want to stop dyeing it but have a couple of very public, high profile (in my community anyway) events coming up in June.
Any ideas what I can do with it for the events? My hair is just above shoulder length and very fine. I was thinking about a temporary darker dye over the whole lot but worry that I'll still have a demarcation line between the highlighted hair and my roots.
Any ideas appreciated.
