saltwater new styles

i've worn Saltwaters for years. For what they were designed for - in and out of the water. Live in Cornwall and find they're reassuring at low tide when the weaver fish are about! I lost one pair in a muddy creek last year (literally sucked the shoe off of my foot!), and the back up pair are looking vulnerable. I think they must be Originals. Now I look at the website and there are all sorts of new styles. Will I regret it if I go for one of the new softer soles or are the fits all the same?

I've got a pair of the originals and the newer still with the softer sole. Both amazing! i don't think you can go wrong

That's what I wanted to hear @bob1985 ! Somehow the softer soles look like they'd give better grip on smooth or rocky surfaces. I must admit my Originals aren't the best if I have to scramble over rocks to get in!

I just bought some new sun san ones - with the spongy sole. You can have boardwalk (like the classic flat one - with buckle across toe) or swimmer (like the original - without buckle across toe)

I was divided between swimmer or boardwalk. I compared my new ones to my old originals with the flat sole. The gap between the toe straps and ankle strap seemed smaller - felt like less foot on display and more sandal. With the flat ones your toes are meant to come to the stitching, with the area beyond stitching without toes. feels like with the spongy soles toes come nearer end. I think they are more comfy, but the flatter sole is more elegant.

I had pewter in the flat ones. Now got rose gold in the spongy soles. Wonder if Olive would have been better. On the dilemmas….
