What do you do with your upper lip?

bigbabycooker · 25/05/2023 22:56

I have started to see a few more dark hairs on my upper lip in my thirties than in my twenties.

Is there anyone who could advise me on how best to reduce, hide or get rid?

I shave mine 🤷🏻‍♀️

JeandeServiette · 25/05/2023 23:13

Bleach it. It's by far the easiest.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/05/2023 23:21

Laser treatment. One of the best things I've ever done. Wasn't particularly expensive. And just have a top up
Every couple of months.

A quick whizz over with the razor in the shower, and no they don’t grow back any thicker or quicker.

Veet strips to wax. Chin as well

Phillips Lumia - changed my life. I used to not leave the house without tweezers in case a hair sprung out from nowhere as they were prone to do, but now I couldn’t even tell you where my tweezers are!

Upanddownthemerrygoround · 25/05/2023 23:36

I tweezed for a long time but now use wax strips. I’m early 40s but have had some stubborn wiry ones since mid 20s. Although I think the most stubborn patch has now turned white and curly.

Veet facial wax strips.
Weekly!

I bleached for a while, then decided to get electrolysis. Not cheap, but it was permanent - thirty years now! I still consider it money well spent.

In fact, now that I'm getting some hairs on my chin and neck, I'll probably have some more electrolysis.

How painful is that?

Kyse23 · 26/05/2023 00:44

I use one of those dermaplaning razors for my upper lip and everywhere on my face
Stubborn chin hairs I tweeze

Hazelnuttella · 26/05/2023 00:46

Veet facial wax strips, quick and easy.

DPotter · 26/05/2023 02:43

electrolysis for a permanent solution. Wont deny it can be painful after a while - use a thick layer of emla cream as an analgesic

How does it appear when it grows back in?

greenspaces4peace · 26/05/2023 05:18

Mine grows very s l o w l y so a wax every 3-4 weeks works. I tried to do my own with no luck, just couldn’t get the angle right. The gal lives nearby and charges a very sensible price, a very clean home studio.

CosmosQueen · 26/05/2023 05:41

I get mine waxed or use my epilator.

I use a springy thing too.

Mostly, it wasn't painful. Uncomfortable, yes, because there's a lot of nerves around the mouth. Most of my dark hairs were towards the corners of my mouth, it was like a little stinging but completely bearable. There was one hair dead centre, that brought tears to my eyes! Probably because I'd expected it to be no worse than the corner hairs, although the beautician had warned me I would feel that one more.

It's not pain-free, but it's bearable. Appointments were 15 minutes long, I can grit my teeth for that.

Damnspot · 26/05/2023 08:58

A combination of shaving and a lumea

Almost nothing there now and I had a lot of hair originally

Yetisrus · 26/05/2023 09:05

I wax have done since I was 20. Also my chin and arms. I'm olive skin with dark hair, always been hairy so it's something I'm used to.

DollyPartonsBeard · 26/05/2023 09:25

I use my Lumea on mine. I used to have five or six really thick hairs in either side and it's down to one or two now. I've also managed to slow down the chin hairs, which is a relief. In between I tend to shave any that pop up, tweezing always seems to herald a spot a few days later

I used to bleach with good old Jolen but I'm so dark the hairs were always yellow, rather than white, and they were quite fluffy so still visible; I was in danger of looking like Hulk Hogan!

pharmachameleon · 26/05/2023 09:28

Springy thing to get rid of the blonde fluff. Tweezers for the one or two black hairs but I'm using my Philips Lumea on these so hopefully they'll be gone soon. I can't use wax strips as I use tretinoin and the last time I tried wax strips my face was a literal bleeding mess!
