What do you do with your upper lip?

bigbabycooker · 25/05/2023 22:56

I have started to see a few more dark hairs on my upper lip in my thirties than in my twenties.

Is there anyone who could advise me on how best to reduce, hide or get rid?

Sometimes I curl it with disdain.

Coinicon · 26/05/2023 09:30

I tweeze any dark/thick ones and then just shave the rest

I wax have done since I was 20. Also my chin and arms. I'm olive skin with dark hair, always been hairy so it's something I'm used to.

@Yetisrus I have waxed for the last 25 years. It's always a relief when I get the top lip done.

TakeMe2Insanity · 26/05/2023 09:31

Again dark hair. So I hot wax.

This is the best way!

You can get those razors for women's facial hair where you don't use shaving foam and they're brilliant. Don't wax, it breaks a lot of people out in spots when done on the face.

LaDamaDeElche · 26/05/2023 09:44

I use these types. Not this specific brand, but this as opposed to a razor you shave your legs with.

Just searched on Amazon and found the brand. I order from Amazon Spain, but I'm sure you can get these through AmazonUK. They're really good.

l had full laser hair removal. Would highly recommend it

Zooeyzo · 26/05/2023 09:55

Threading is the cleanest and longest lasting way to clear it

GeriKellmansUpdo · 26/05/2023 09:57

Dermablade with those little Korean blades.

Littleguggi · 26/05/2023 10:00

I thread mine, the best thing my mum taught me to do!

ThePoshUns · 26/05/2023 10:01

A quick shave with my tinkle razor

TallulahBetty · 26/05/2023 10:02

Shave or pluck.

shatteredmum1 · 26/05/2023 10:03

Threading.Painful for a few minutes but,
the best solution by far.

AndStand · 26/05/2023 10:08

I'm currently having electrolysis on my chin and lip. The lip is more painful than the chin.

DorritLittle · 26/05/2023 10:09

I get my lip/chin waxed or threaded when I get my eyelashes and brows dyed each month. Best beauty money I spend!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/05/2023 10:10

Initially, Phillips Lumea to zap it. This seems to have minimised it but I think the Lumea was starting to alter my skin colour in that area, so now I just have to use a little tinkle razor. Chin hairs get plucked.

HappilyContentTheseDays · 26/05/2023 10:13

I shave. Small, electric ladies shaver that doesn't need foam or anything, very close shave, very easy and cheap. I do it every morning, without fail.
Everything else is either too expensive or too painful for me. Bleaching is a waste of time, it doesn't get rid of the solid wiry hairs.

dameofdilemma · 26/05/2023 10:18

Springy thing that noone can remember the proper name for.

Its v cheap, can do on any length of hair, can do any part of my face and unlike waxing it doesn’t leave me with a sore red rash.

I tried threading my upper lip (which is great for my eyebrows) but my skin reacted.

woodhill · 26/05/2023 10:18

That springy whirly thing is quite good

dameofdilemma · 26/05/2023 10:19

It does hurt and if you’ve thick hair it might be too painful.

SavvyWavvy · 26/05/2023 10:23

I bleached for a while, then decided to get electrolysis. Not cheap, but it was permanent - thirty years now! I still consider it money well spent.

In fact, now that I'm getting some hairs on my chin and neck, I'll probably have some more electrolysis.

Is electrolysis permanent? Everything I’ve read says you need to repeat it every 6months or year and only after a few treatments is it really permanent.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 26/05/2023 10:25

I think the best option depends upon how much hair you have and how obvious it is.

If it is fairly fine and short bleach is a pretty good option to make it less obvious, especially if you have fair skin.

If is thicker or longer you might need to remove by the root. I wouldn't wax, it is too harsh on the skin. I certainly wouldn't shave due to stubble.

Threading is brilliant and cheap if you can find a good practitioner or do it yourself. Pretty eye watering but quick and doesn't irritate the skin. I used to have it done regularly but I can't find anyone where I live now.

I epilate now which is really quick and easy. I run the epilator over like an electric razor and use tweezers for any tough to get at hairs.

I am considering electrolysis for my chin though as I find the hairs show before they are long enough to tweeze and laser doesn't work on hormonal hair growth.

Fairymother · 26/05/2023 10:29

JeandeServiette · 25/05/2023 23:13

Bleach it. It's by far the easiest.

Then you just have a blonde moustache 🤷🏻‍♀️
I wax it. Very quick and easily done at home and lasts much longer than shaving.

continentallentil · 26/05/2023 10:54

Threading, I prefer it to waxing as it doesn't pull the skin so much and also you don't get left with a totally bald patch. It's gradually reduce the hair.

Have vaguely considered lasering the dark ones, but never got round to it

Avoid electrolysis, I tried it for a couple of dark ones ages ago and got left with a tiny scar which took years to fade out.

Threading is a bit painful but it's v quick. Take a couple of nurofen the first time if you have a low pain threshold.
