How is Hush quality these days please?

Has anyone bought anything from Hush recently?

I remember their quality was really good and then went badly downhill. The last time I shopped there I bought harem pants which definitely got holey pretty quickly.

Wondering how the quality is these days as I haven't bought anything from there in years.

Well I bought some of their pjs at Xmas and the PJ top has developed two holes in the seams. (John Lewis offered me a £12 partial refund as they were no longer available to swap) I'm hoping that I can repair it.

gardendream · 23/05/2023 22:05

I haven’t found much I like in Hush very recently, but the sweaters and blouses I bought there last year are still going strong. Except one sweater ran in the wash so I’d recommend washing things separately on first wash! I tend to wash my blouses in a cycle together so they don’t get caught up in heavier pieces/zips etc and they’ve all been fine.

PaddlingPoollyColour · 24/05/2023 06:40

Hmm doesn't sound promising! Thanks both

Ah, the whims of the retail world! As prices soar, the quality takes a dive. Polyester reigns supreme, even at absurd costs. Recycled or not, it's still just plastic, FFS!

BreakfastOfWaffles · 24/05/2023 07:34

I buy loads from Hush. I love their things, but you do have to wash them quite carefully, which isn't for everyone. I never buy the unlined skirts though - they always looks a bit flimsy.

PaddlingPoollyColour · 24/05/2023 07:54

That's good to hear a positive review.

I'm trying to invest a bit more in higher end bits instead of fast fashion etc.

I've ordered a dress from TOAST which I've heard really good things about but won't know what it's like till it gets here obviously.

I was looking at a COTTON dress in Hush as an alternative (I also feel the polyester rage 😂. So very sweaty 🤢). Viscose also clings to me in an unflattering way when I'm outdoors on a windy day. Fine indoors but as soon as the wind picks up I look heavily pregnant 😒

I have loads in my wardrobe from Hush, some are lasting brilliantly but things like blouses seem to develop holes by the seam too easily, maybe from stingy hem allowances.

However I've sent back two dresses this year. One for being dry clean only and the other for being really badly cut, like no thought as to the shape whatsoever, just a vague suggestion that a belt might improve things (it didn't). And, neither had pockets!

MidnightMeltdown · 24/05/2023 09:36

Absolute rubbish. Especially their sweatshirts, jumpers and joggers. I have much cheaper ones from M&S which look a million times better after a few washes.

I found that the jeans and cotton t-shirts are ok

ILoveMyBedTooMuch · 24/05/2023 09:43

I bought a couple of their dresses for summer sightseeing - basics and very happy with them.

I think their cotton is still usually OK - I had two cotton things I got last year that were genuinely really good quality, also lines and at the relatively inexpensive end as well weirdly! It’s the viscose that can be very flimsy.

Agree a lot of their cuts can be quite boxy or lack shaped so it depends on what you like!

gardendream · 24/05/2023 12:17

Actually I’d forgotten I bought the Elisa dress a couple of weeks ago but haven’t worn/washed it yet.

The cut is super flattering (I’m an hourglass so struggling with the boxy fashions lately). The jersey is gorgeously slinky and the right thickness for summer (thin but still feels robust).

The length is just at the ankles for me which I like - I’m 5’1.

Oh bugger, I thought I was over Hush but as a similar shape and height to you I might have to buy that

gardendream · 24/05/2023 12:25

It is gorgeous and a keeper. Covers my bra too which is a big tick these days!

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 24/05/2023 12:26

Dreadful I imagine. Like it has been for the last 5 years or so.
So frustrating because the shapes they do are great. I actually like their quality these days to no better than Primark but with not Primark prices.

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 24/05/2023 12:28

*liken

PaddlingPoollyColour · 24/05/2023 12:29

Hmm I don't think I'm going to bother if quality is still very hit and miss.

Maybe the Toast one will be ok, but I'm just not 100% convinced about the print (floral)

Some things not so good and not worth the price. Some things are surprisingly good - the Mimi long sleeve t shirt at £29 is lovely quality and washes really well, it’s more substantial than a t shirt. I got some beautiful fitted at the waist dresses in the sale (viscose) last summer one in a bright pink print and other in a pale blue shell print which washed brilliantly and had lots of compliments. And a stunning pink paisley dress. Cotton pjs good, brushed winter cotton pjs always shrink and look tatty quickly. I’ve shopped with hush for a decade and took a break for a couple of years until last summer as everything was so samey and shapeless. But was tempted back by last summers sale. I generally wait for the sale though as think it’s overpriced full price. Sizing is very much on large size.

I got this dress for an event next month and again when hush do fitted rather than shapeless it’s great. Still waited for the 15% off event though!

Sarri · 24/05/2023 16:36

I just bought a third pair of their harem pants as two previous pairs are now very worn out but I'd had them well over five years and they were great quality, I've literally worn them to death.

I'm afraid this recent pair were not a patch on the older ones and have sadly gone straight back, so disappointed!

LoveLabradors · 24/05/2023 16:52

So annoying when companies do that @sarri - they had a best selling product in those so why cut corners on quality - customers aren’t stupid and recognise this straightaway. Mint velvet used to do the best basic leggings - thick quality and in different leg lengths and high waisted. They’ve changed over the past couple of years to thin and cheap and the dozens of bad reviews on John Lewis say this.
Hush should perhaps stop hosting swanky dinners and freebie giveaways for two bit influencers and focus on paying customers and quality instead.

Sarri · 24/05/2023 17:34

Could not agree more @LoveLabradors I bought them online thinking I know my size, I know these are great, and then when I opened the parcel it was immediately obvious that the fabric was completely different to my older pairs, so thin.

And now I have to find somewhere else that does great harem pants!

CointreauVersial · 24/05/2023 19:10

I think it's patchy. I have some joggers which are lovely, thick jersey, really nicely made, and have lasted really well.

But I also have a cupro (?) dress which turned into a bobbled rag after only two washes, and it wasn't cheap.

If I can nab a sale bargain, happy days, but it isn't worth full price, in my opinion.

Blinky21 · 24/05/2023 22:17

I think it's mixed in terms of quality but I find it massively overpriced so I rarely shop there now

ILoveMyBedTooMuch · 24/05/2023 23:15

I have had several T shirts from them and they have not lasted well.
