Best suncream SPF for face

I need a new sun cream for my face. I used Ultra Sun previously and it was ok but sometimes had a white cast and also I didn't like they I couldn't wear my usual moisturiser underneath.

Please can I have your recommendations for a facial sun protection cream with a nice finish, not greasy, works under make up?

My favourite is heliocare. It's brilliant under make up, gives a slight glow and blends quickly

Mapleunicorn · 23/05/2023 17:10

Ultra Violette supreme screen is great. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it

Big fans here of the new L'Oreal Revitalift one (tenner on Amazon)- DH wore it all afternoon at the football and was very burnt in the square cm of forehead he forgot to put it on, so it works very well but it very light and doesn't feel like you've got anything on at all. DS14 will wear it and normally he's freaked right out by the texture of sun cream

Altruist is by far the best and not expensive. Developed by a dermatologist in Kent it's available in 50 SPF on line from Amazon. Why use perfumed, highly marketed products when this is available. I use it every day since getting skin cancer.

Garnier spf50 for the face.
Instead of moisturizer. No white cast, hydrating, about a fiver.

Pollyputthepeleton · 24/05/2023 19:08

1000% Garnier spf for face, they do some for dry skin and some for oiler skins, cost about a tenner but you can get three for two sometimes. I’ve tried hundreds but am sticking with the Garnier and now stockpile it in case they ever stop making it!

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 24/05/2023 19:10

Another vote for Heliocare. I’ve tried loads and this one has suited me the best. It’s great under makeup, no white cast or pilling.

mogtheexcellent · 24/05/2023 19:11

Altruist! Leas than a tenner on amazon.

I am really impressed. Spent a fortune on la roche etc last year which was so greasy and smelly.

Runaround50 · 24/05/2023 19:13

Altruist all the way.
Cost effective and leaves no residue.

SlipperyLizard · 24/05/2023 19:14

I’ve recently been using the ELF Whoa Glow and the new Inkey Dewy one, really like both either on their own or under make up and crucially don’t make by eyes sting!

Greyandwhitecat · 24/05/2023 19:20

La Roche Posay UV Mune Invisible Fluid SPF 50 is amazingly light and really good under makeup. It suits oily/combination skin really well. Altruist was too heavy for me.

OrangeBlossom28 · 24/05/2023 19:21

Biore watery essence is SPF50 and work's beautifully. Well worth a try.

BombasticSideEye · 24/05/2023 19:26

La Roche Posay Anthelios is my go-to.

PrincessFluffyPants · 24/05/2023 19:30

I have both hyper and hypo pigmentation so my face looks really bad if it catches the sun. I'm currently using La Roche Posay UV Mune Invisible Fluid SPF 50, happy to recommend, doesn't sting eyes so you can blend it onto your lids and sits well under make up. I top up and use the same but the spray form in the afternoon before I go home.

Looking at the Altruist one now. Does it sit well under makeup? Does it sting your eyes? I just bought a new one but it stings my eyes which drives me crazy.

Caterpillargirl23 · 24/05/2023 20:16

I think Altruist is great, no stinging and great under make up. I don't use moisturiser as well as Altuist (I use the factor 50 not the specific face one).

This is the one I use too - recommended by a dermatologist. I buy the face one from Grüum.

Tempted to try altruist

not sure whether to go for the face specific one

Me too. It is basically the La Roche Posey invisible fluid one, but half the price.
