Tretinoin - when does the peeling stop?

I started using tret last September, for the usual signs of ageing rather than skin concerns as such. I get my prescription through Dermatica. Currently using 0.05% tret, plus 4% each of niacinamide and azeleic acid

I'm using one pump at a time, buffering with moisturizer underneath, and another layer of moisture on top. I'm using tret every 3 nights at the moment. With this, I get mild peeling on my forehead, chin and cheeks. If I try to increase the frequency of tret use, the peeling gets a whole lot worse. No other issues, like redness or sensitivity, but no noticeable positive results either!

I know that tret use is a marathon not a sprint but should I really be peeling so much after 9 months of steady use? I would like to increase to using every other night but the peeling is so off putting. Do I need to contact Dermatica and get the strength of my prescription reduced?

No you shouldn't still be peeling, and you should be seeing results. Definitely contact Dermatica - it's not even necessarily reducing the strength, maybe your formula needs to be adjusted to try other ingredients

Some people never peel. I never did.
Are you buffering it? Try a layer of moisturizer, then tret.

Thanks pisces, I will contact them and ask them to review my prescription
