Dr Martens Jadon sizing

I am not in the UK, and we don't have m/any options of places to buy Dr Martens boots so I have to order online, which is risk as I won't be able to do a return.

My dd has an old pair of 1460 (made in Vietnam version if it makes any difference to sizing) in size UK4. They are really wrecked now and not repairable so I am looking to get her a new pair as a gift. These were 2nd hand to start with so well used now. She likes the Jadon platform type, but she has never tried on a pair, and there is nowhere for her to do a test try on.

It is her choice of course, but I am thinking maybe its best to just for for the 1460 again because:

We don't know if the Jadon sizing is the same as the 1460?
Are they are comfy as the 1460?
She will need to use these for a good few years, so are they likely to go out of style before too long? (she is 20)
She is small and could use the height, hence her main reason for the option.

If anyone could guide me please, it is going to end up costing quite a lot of money as I have to factor in customs and shipping etc, so don't want to make a big mistake.

And also, as I will most likely order from the UK and have it shipped, is there anywhere that is doing good deals at the moment? I have looked on the Dr M site and also on Asos who both ship internationally.

Hello , not sure how much i can help but i will try!!

I have the white platform docs (with the zip) i am also a UK 4. They fit fine!
I absolutely love them HOWEVER they seem to HATE me!!

I have been trying to break them in since September last year. I even have their own brand socks. Have sooo many different socks and they still want to rip the backs of my feet to shreds!

So i am not sure if that was helpful or not! 😆 but yeah!

Thank you @mumpower3 Yikes, I have also read elsewhere that they are are a quite nasty to wear in, and I don't think these ones come in the pascal version.

I think she can get away with the kiddies version too being a size 4, I think a zip must make it a whole lot easier getting them on and off.

I think I will try to encourage she go for the classic style again, as to go through this whole exercise and she not wear them as much as her current ones, would be a such a waste of time (and money).

You can also take the zip out and put the laces in. The laces are down the sides still. I just tuck them in. They are very cool. I do get a lot of compliments when wearing them.

But they cost my husband a lot of money with the cleaning kit too! And they are just sooo painful.

I wear them on school run and take my trainers with me as i just cannot wear them back home too!

Compeed plasters have somewhat helped but they are also expensive!

I am yet to find a miracle. Everyone tells me persevere its worth it in the end. So here i am still trying 😆 😓

Breaking them in is painful and takes time. I had no other shoes (literally) when I last got new DMs, and had to wear them all the time. Still took about 6 weeks all day every day.

I saw a tiktok video and the guy reckoned the only way is by using a sanitary pad. 😂 Just peel off the paper and stick the sucker in.

Got to be worth a try though isn't it ? 😂

I do like the thought of the lace and zip change up though.

Conditioner. Rub that on the bits that rub.

rumred · 23/05/2023 15:14

I've got them in the furry version. Bought half a size bigger but think my normal size would have been better.
The only way to prevent bleeding ankles I've found is heel cups. They actually work, thankfully

mumpower3 · 23/05/2023 15:49

Thank you for the tips!! I will definitely try

Hardest shoe to break in EVER i think! 😣
I think they are secretly made of bricks 🤣

mumpower3 · 23/05/2023 15:51

I have tried sanitary pad!
But that was AFTER my foot was very bad. I would post a picture but it may be too much for some people 😬 😆

Maybe the pic of your mangled foot might help my case with the choices here ....

It sounds horrendously painful though. I hope the 'breakthrough' day comes around soon.

Sorry!! 🙈
The pain was immense!!

mumpower3 · 23/05/2023 16:06

That was my first wear! 😬
On my birthday 🤣

mumpower3 · 23/05/2023 16:14

I actually had to wear slippers on the school run after that as I couldn't get a trainer on no matter how well i padded it 🤣

isthismylifenow · 23/05/2023 16:31

Oh good lord, that is a proper mangled foot pic. My toes curled just looking at that @mumpower3 .

I bet you are glad you are going into summer now, perhaps while your feet heal, the boots can sit looking pretty in the wardrobe for a while.

OP posts:
mumpower3 · 23/05/2023 16:35

Indeed! They look extremely pretty everyday unused 🤣

I wore them last week. I thought "ooo this is going well!"
Nope. Trainers back on! Haha

Maybe one day!! 🙈

ulcers · 23/05/2023 19:20

I really want some but all my friends say how much they hurt and after many wears, still hurt!

rumred · 25/05/2023 19:41

@mumpower3 heel cups are essential. I've had docs for years and given up after similar injuries. The heel cups are the only solution I've found
