Blackhead help

MabelWotsits · 22/05/2023 16:28

What's the best way to clear my nose of all the blackheads that I just can't shift?

Sorry for gross topic but I've got large pores and they're not looking nice.

Thank you

They are almost impossible to get rid of unfortunately. Do you use acids? My blackheads/sebaceous filaments look 100 times better if I do the following-
Wash with Cerave salicylic acid wash. Leave on for a few minutes before rinsing.
Apply Paula's Choice salicylic acid lotion twice daily.
Use the Ordinary Salicylic acid charcoal face mask once or twice weekly.
Use the Ordinary rec peeling solution once weekly.
I also apply powder before foundation which almost makes them disappear.

QuickDuck · 22/05/2023 17:43

@pharmachameleon powder before foundation? Does it not all smear? Do you put powder on top again to set?

I’ve never heard of that.

TeenLifeMum · 22/05/2023 17:46

I use the tape stuff you stick on then peel off.

AnnaMagnani · 22/05/2023 17:49

They won't disappear permanently as the filaments are a normal part of your face.

You can stop them being black by using a leave on product with salicylic acid in it.

Nip + Fab Glyvolic pads completely cleared my sebaceous filaments in a couple of months and they never returned.

MabelWotsits · 22/05/2023 20:48

I've not used any acids before. I'll give them a go, thanks

@QuickDuck I only started it a couple of weeks ago after reading a thread here. You apply primer as usual, apply loose powder on the areas you get oily/blackheads (I apply only to my T zone) then apply foundation. The finish is amazing and I rarely need to reapply powder during the day.
I usually apply foundation with my fingers over the powder and it looks good however today I applied with a damp beauty blender and it smeared a bit so I'll go back to fingers tomorrow.

The two things that helped me with this are BHA and retinol.

AM

face cleanser
Facetheory saliatica 2% BHA toner
moisturiser
spf

PM

face cleanser
Indeed Labs retinol reface (it's on offer at Boots today)

Occasionally, I use The Ordinary lactic acid 5% in the evenings (alone, not with retinol)

QuickDuck · 23/05/2023 23:39

Thanks @pharmachameleon i will give it a go

Retinol and keto

I run over my nose gently with my rotary toothbrush - doesn’t stop them coming back but removes them at the time.

Yes, it's easy to test surely?
