DD is beginning to get spots and I am trying to get her into some better habits with personal hygiene (she has a tendency towards soap dodging) and I thought it might help for her to get a proper product to encourage her.

I don’t want to use disposable wipes but would be keen to know what reusable options you have found good.

is there anything you would recommend?

From about that age we bought dd “Simple” products . They do a foamy face wash and an everyday moisturiser. We bought dd the moisturiser with spf in it.

Inky List Oat milk is a nice mild Cleanser just remove gently with a flannel. In a couple of years the cerave face wash with salycillic acid in (apologies can never remember the spelling of SA) is good.

Use Cerave smoothing salicylic acid wash. I have used it since I was 15 and it’s the only thing that has ever worked. Follow up with cerave’s smoothing moisturiser (light blue lid). You can get it all on Amazon prime.

Very gentle but great on spots. I’m very meticulous on my skincare but this works!

  1. wash hands with antibac soap
  2. Wet face with hands with warm-hot water
  3. lather onto face
  4. wipe off with hot wet flannel
  5. repeat
  6. leave face to air dry

germolene is fantastic on spots if she has a tendency to squeeze. Dab a bit on, cover with a bit of loo roll. Spot will be gone the next morning.

do not use makeup wipes or cotton pads whatsoever.

always use a clean flannel/microfibre cloth every night. To save buying loads and to save money, I cut up a white towel into smaller squares and use a new one every day.

when she’s in her teens, introduce a niacinamide serum into her routine to use straight after washing her face. Wait for it to dry and then apply moisturiser.

her skin will thank you. Xx

Cerave is really popular at the moment

I like Simple and Body Shop stuff for easy every day skincare, I started with those in my teens.
I also like the Erase Your Face cloths - I've had mine ages and they're fab at removing makeup and washing face with

Warm water and a soft fleece wash cloth. Don't underestimate the power of a proper face wash.

BergamotandLime · 22/05/2023 13:38

Cerave smoothing cleanser has been fantastic for similar aged DD.

Bovrilla · 22/05/2023 13:49

Amie is a range designed for young skin and it's fabulous and very reasonable

Effaclar if the spots are getting her down. Otherwise CeraVe as above.

twistyizzy · 22/05/2023 14:50

We started DD with the Dermalogica range for young skin and it is really good including the SPF 30 moisturiser.
