Wedding guest - nursing

This is a long shot.... but I am due to go to a wedding when I'm 4 weeks post partum. Assuming I will be breastfeeding so need a dress I can do so in. Boobs are large even when not feeding...

Any suggestions? I've looked on all the obvious maternity sites but just wondering if anyone has any great non maternity suggestions.

I highly recommend a skirt, fitted vest top then loose blouse over the top. I went to a wedding at 8 weeks pp and this worked perfectly for discrete feeding in church!

Someone attended my wedding in a lovely top and midi skirt, which enabled her to breastfeed her newborn.

I've worn this dress to two weddings and breastfed in it.

I'm a big fan of a V neck or wrap dress, plus a pashmina draped across the top of my chest for a little modesty (minimises the 'boob flopped out' look, although I've never actually found that anyone cares or comments... I usually just get on with it in other settings. People often can't tell, regardless)!

I had a Topshop nursing dress for a wedding, the brand is still on Asos despite the shops closing. Could be worth a look.

There’s a Facebook group where breastfeeding mothers post clothes they’ve bought/seen in the shops that are suitable for bf. I found out about it too late….
Think people may sell bf friendly clothes there too.

Join 'can I breastfeed in it? UK' on Facebook! A fab group with tonnes of recommendations for things like this xx

I would go for a skirt and double layered top

The Facebook page sounds great. When I did this, I wore a wrap dress with a stretchy camisole under that could be lifted up, to keep me covered abit. A wrap dress gives a fair bit of flexibility to alter the fit for your changing shape and especially good if its got some stretch

Boobdesign does really good nursing dresses. The nursing access sits just below your ribs and you lift it up. By far the most discreet of all the options I tried over the years. (I extended breastfed both kids so tried out a lot!)

It is the ones that say they have “nursing access”.

Thanks so much everyone. Lots of potential options. Have asked to join that Facebook group too. Will be great for life in general even if they don't have any particular wedding suggestions

I love the 'can I breastfeed in it' FB group (I'm a member), it's very useful!

OhBanana · 20/05/2023 01:56

scroll down for occasion dresses! I have a couple of the floral numbers and love them. Sizing is a little generous as they are designed to be worn in pregnancy and also after for nursing!

Popsy have a breastfeeding friendly section on their website. They have lots of different styles.
Funky prints and pockets are their USP but there are some plain, shiny and flowery prints too that might suit a wedding.
