Curly girl method - trial and error!

Not long started my journey and would love to share some tips and hints with others! Anyone else doing this?
After reading and watching various things, I am almost 90% sure I have low porosity hair. That was the biggest game changer for me. After experimenting with a ton of things what works for me is:
Using shampoo and conditioner [sulphate and paraben free]
Using a leave in conditioner instead of curl cream [ This has made an absolutely momentous change in my hair] Curl cream just did not absorb in my hair and ended up feeling dirty and crunchy - the cast would not break after it had all dried with the gel.
Using a good strong gel after the leave in conditioner to create a cast then plopping into a microfibre towel and diffusing or leaving to air dry or a mixture of both.
I am still working out refreshing my hair as it is always very dry and spraying a mist of water makes my hair frizz ridiculously.
What I tried to do today was to apply the leave in conditioner to dry hair then use a facial steamer to bring out the curls. This worked pretty well.
I would love to hear of others on this journey :)

Isn't coconut high in protein? So maybe look out for high protein rather than high moisture products

I'd be concerned if you're going to sleep with wet hair regularly as I don't think that's very good for your scalp

My hair is in a dry cast and pineappled. No wet hair!
I'm.not sure about coconut having protein in it. I try and avoid protein as its not great for low porosity hair.

I have heard though that people can have a mix of porosities in their hair! Who knows? I just know my hair is pretty dry and nothing moisturises it like heat. I can't get away with oils. I suppose that's the difficulty with this method. One size doesn't fit all.

Seemingly it doesn't have protein. I had no idea.

Everyone has a mix of porosities, the hair that grows out at the root is always low porosity and as it gets mechanically and or chemically damaged it becomes medium to high porosity. Most ends are on the porous side and therefore susceptible to even more damage and why they usually behave differently and why it helps hair look better to get trims.

Coconut is not a protein but it can act like one iirc but only if it actually penetrates the hair (which probably isn't happening with low porosity hair without heat).

Thanks. That's very useful information 😀
I'm completely grey, so for me personally, I don't die my hair. I do have heat damage, and it's the reason why I stopped curling my hair with tools and thought, I've curly hair already. Why am I doing this?🤣
It the reason for me joining this method.
I am so glad I did. If you'd asked me a few weeks back, I was still trialling things it was a complete pain.
