I'm a Muslim convert and my sister is getting married.

I dont want to stand out and wear what I would normally wear to a Muslim wedding but I'm looking for something that would cover me and still be wedding appropriate.

My sisters theme is dusty pink and I'm looking for something long sleeved and flowy.

Please help

Why not take advice from your Sisters in your community?

She is. On this thread.

Laptp · 19/05/2023 19:50

Ooh I like this one. Very elegant. 👍

That's what's happening here

There are some beautiful dresses on this thread!m. I’d be tempted by all of them if I was a tall size ten!

I attended a friend’s Muslim wedding last year and found John Lewis had a great range of modest dresses. They stick Aab but also ‘mainstream brands’ if you search ‘modest dress’.

In keeping with the dusky pink theme, how about this? https://www.johnlewis.com/ted-baker-miray-tiered-maxi-dress-coral/p110003648

Exactly OP. Ignore that troll. Hope you found something you liked amongst the suggestions! 😊

Next do a whole range for Eid that would be appropriate. Available online.

Notascoobie · 19/05/2023 21:18

Also amena khan on Instagram comes up with some good ‘modest’ looks.

This has to be the best so far!

It is by far- along with the very expensive Saloni one.

Whataretheodds · 20/05/2023 07:55

Ooh brilliant! That means high neck, long sleeve with embellishment across the decolletage / bodice will suit you v well.

Does it need to be ankle length? What's your budget?

Whatthediddlyfeck · 20/05/2023 07:57

I’m not usually a fan of boohoo (fast fashion etc) but that dress is beautiful! I wish I had something to wear it for!

Twilightimmortal · 20/05/2023 08:32

Yes that Boohoo one is gorgeous 😍. Its exactly the kind of thing I'm going for. I would probably spend upto £150 so I could then have money to buy shoes, bag and scarf.

ASOS have a modest fashion section that might have something. They're just nice dresses that happen to be more covered up

Really like this, could add some lovely jewellery

Loads of other non-pink options too

These two, particularly the first, are lovely and would definitely work well @Twilightimmortal

Get it via the app OP, it's 20% off on there (£80) 👍

Scirocco · 20/05/2023 09:17

That boohoo one is gorgeous! I'd probably stick on a slip underneath in case of thin fabric but it's stunning.

Omg I love this dress 🥹 unfortunately, this is pretty much a mortgage payment cost for me!

OnSilverStars · 20/05/2023 15:27

Boden have lots of long, long sleeved dresses

AngryPurpleSleepingBag · 20/05/2023 22:01

My Muslim friends came to my (English non muslim) wedding in their traditional clothes and they looked fabulous. I love all the colours in the photographs.

Twilightimmortal · 21/05/2023 11:43

Yeah, I dont want to stand out and wear the Moroccan style clothes I would normally wear to a wedding. (Bright contrasting colours, gold belts etc)

I'm the sister of the bride and a lot of his side of the family have never met me, I will probably be the only Muslim there.
