Pick me up purchase - ££ perfume

Whowahway123 · 19/05/2023 03:20

So feeling pretty crappy with myself with damn Bells Palsy (if you know you know) perfume that reminds me of an damn ex and having to cancel all social interactions due to my deformed face I am going to treat myself on a new scent.

so I hate hate hate run of the mill scents, no harm to anyone. Anything sweet flowery and girly is an instant no. In fact I even wear male deodorant. I cannot stand sweet smells on me.

Manly, musky, warm, spicy, Tonka, leather etc etc all the way

I also love something that no one else really knows what it is but smells delicious & intriguing.

im currently favouring -

Juliette has a gun - not a perfume

molecules 01 original

a sapphire oud oil I picked up in a Marrakesh market

creed Aventus men

spice bomb when it’s warm

So help a girl out here….
im thinking of splashing out on some Orto Parisi; either Stercus or Seminalis ????

im in a country that doesn’t have any shops that stock these unfortunately, it’s going to be a
blind purchase. Oh how I wish for a trip to Liberty fragrance hall

so for any that aren’t too familiar with the Orto Parisi name, the scent Stercus has been described as being likened to faeces and Seminalis to semen. But hear me out, they are meant to be AMAZING and so captivating

thanks in advance and I can’t wait for the “you want to stink of poop or spunk” replies ;-)

Orto Parisi Stercus Eau de Parfum 50ml | Liberty

Orto Parisi's Stercus eau de parfum is a powerful and intoxicating scent built upon invigorating woody accords. Another bold creation from the eccentric perfum

There are cheaper ways to smell like that :)

The colour of stercus is quite unfortunate! Oh I have just checked the seminalis too.

I've never heard of either of them but new perfume is a definite pick me up. I think I'd go for something more conventional for a blind purchase. Hope the Bell's palsy improves soon.

Manly, musky, warm, spicy, Tonka, leather etc

Mitsouko by Guerlain. Not manly, but musky, warm, spicy, leathery, not v common - I love it.

Ha! I knew I’d get that! Sounds like I could smell like a Saturday night for some! Maybe throw in a kebab aroma & I will be a sure fire hit 😉

yes I would need to research the colour transfer of Stercus, could you imagine a crisp linen shirt @nettie434!

I think having lots of time on my hands has maybe pushed into quite far realms of weird very unconventional scents!

Thankyou for the recommendation @HBGKC my only Guerlain purchase has ever been Météorite pearls years ago. Maybe easier to get sniff of this than the others 🤔

I only wear Paloma Picasso Eau de Parfum. It’s hard to find these days except on the internet but more popular in France where you can find gift sets. it comes in a classy black bottle.

Zampa · 19/05/2023 07:26

My current favourites are;

Baccarat Rouge 549 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Top notes are jasmine and saffron; middle note is amberwood; base notes are fir resin and cedar

Or Le Labo Santal 33. Notes are cardamom, iris, violet, ambrox, Australian sandalwood, papyrus, cedarwood.

Although, I wear dupes of both due to cost!

Sorry you are going through a tough time.

I don’t know either if the two you mention, but if you’re looking for interesting, unisex perfumes that not everyone wears, two brands worth looking at are:

Andy Tauer - L’Air de desert Moroccan for example
Papillon - something like Salome or Spell25?

No idea of postage costs outside of U.K. , but Les Senteurs stock both and are now posting internationally.

handydandynotebook · 19/05/2023 07:48

Killian- angels share (but it's more autumn/winter) imo

nettie434 · 19/05/2023 08:07

Love the idea of throwing in a kebab scent for a true Saturday night vibe 😀

Meant to add that I got a Shay and Blue perfume in a Marks and Spencer advent calendar. They are unisex (all gender) and come in quite good sizes and are good value. I have Black Tulip but maybe one of the wood or spice bases would be better to try?

I started reading and thought straight away Molecules funnily enough.

For something new I'd go for Ombré leather by Tom Ford (or Tuscan leather if you really want to spend £££)

As a teen I wore Givenchy Pi because I loved the masculine smell and I loved maths ha!

EvelynBeatrice · 19/05/2023 08:32

Penhaligon's Halfeti. The complete opposite of sweet fruity florals. Male leaning but truly unisex smell for grown ups. Have a hair scent if you fancy a lower price until you see if you like it. Think Penhaligons also do samples.
Not sure if you like citrusy smells? Nice in summer. Dior Homme Cologne is lemony gorgeousness ( but so short lived).

mintich · 19/05/2023 08:34

Le Labo Another 13. notes are ambroxan, jasmine, moss, ambrette seeds

Meripenopause · 19/05/2023 10:06

Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac would fit the bill very well as it's manly and spicy. Plus there is a tobacco-shaped hole in your favourites list!
