Petite Denim Dress?

Not sure if my style is regressing by a couple of decades but I have a notion for a short denim dress. Is this just a hideous idea that I should ditch rather than pursue?

Google isn't pulling up anything that fits with what I have in my head. What I'm envisaging is short sleeved, above the knee (I'm short so needs to be petite fit). Either dark blue or black. Ideally soft denim, fitted (but not boohoo-tight for this middle-ager!) maybe a-line skirt and with a (preferably buckle- rather than tie-) belt. Ideas gratefully received!

I’d like one too! I’m short too, so only buy petite fit. I haven’t seen any this season. I have some from Boden in previous seasons - they’re shirt dresses, shirt cap sleeve, to the knee, but I’m about a stone away from fitting into them, so unlikely to get into them before august/September. If you’re willing to buy second hand, you might be lucky on eBay or Vinted.

I have one by Tu, but it's a few years old. I'm not petite, just average height. Can't fault it - button through shirtdress in dark soft denim.
I'd try Next, Zara or M&S.

Mine is long-sleeved with a straight hem.
I had a look and it doesn't look like they still do it. It's a softish denim not that horrible tencel stuff.

I'm not ruling out Vinted... on the other hand Boden is likely to be out of budget sadly.
