I don't like the high waist/empire line that nobody's child seem to have on all their dresses. Ordered a few last year and they looked awful on me.

That was the nicest one suggested. Not sure why everybody else are suggesting giant bin bags effectively

I've been looking at that River Island dress for weeks, so its good to know it looks lovely on - I like the lighter colour which I thought was stone but RI call it grey.

I love bright dresses too, but I have a very old black dress from Weekday which is looking a bit tired now and I always default to it for work and have dressed it up with gold sandals and jewellery, a tan and bright lipstick. So looking for something that can hopefully take its place!

@Milger If the Weekday dress itself is fine (in terms of shape, stitching, bobbling etc) I would get a Dylon black dye and re-dye it. Often it’s just the black that fades, it’s so easy to pop a pod in the machine

River Island dress arrived yesterday and sadly its longer than I'd realised and I look like a fat nun in it.

However, I did also order a dress from Boden which I absolutely love - not black at all in fact very summery! So that will now be my go to dress! Thanks all.

I have just bought this one. I also had it in green leopard and black/pink. It isn't midi though but easy to dress up or down!!
