Help me find a ludicrously capacious bag

Hello! I’m sick of carrying a million school bags/coats/swimming bags on the school run (1 mile) while my kids scoot.

Can anyone recommend a stylish LARGE bag with long straps I can chuck everything into, that also looks like it can remain robust to being plonked on the ground in the park etc without getting filthy or ruined? Preferably not cloth as I think it’s hard to keep that looking smart

😂 no help on the bag, but love Succession!

Love your thread title, Wambsgans forever!

What about a big waterproof nylon tote? Annoyingly this Muji one doesn’t have dimensions but their quality is always good and for that price I would imagine quite large. https://www.muji.eu/product/reclaimed-nylon-water-repellent-tote-bag-13727

Is it for your slip on shoes so that you can walk quickly to the subway?

i use an ikea one, sometimes they do a jazzy alternative to the basic blue <not part of the elite>

RhymingGuitars · 16/05/2023 11:06

I have this in the medium size and it holds a lot!

The large can hold up to 25kg which should cover all the school/swimming stuff. Appreciate it's not exactly stylish, but it does everything else!

I like the PP’s kindbag.

When I was in your situation I bought a cheapish beach bag from Primark. 15 years later I still use it, although only for the actual beach Grin

I also bought a shopping trolley. My dc hated this, and muttered darkly about ‘granny trolleys’, but it was brilliant for taking all the dc’s rubbish at school pickup.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 16/05/2023 11:11

Trolleys = trollies [embarassed]

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 16/05/2023 11:12

And I have now misspelt embarrassed.

AgentProvocateur · 16/05/2023 13:40

@Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies and it is “trolleys” 😂

PieMashLiquor · 16/05/2023 14:04

What's your budget? I have a mulberry daria hobo and I find things in it I haven't seen for years

BarbaraofSeville · 16/05/2023 14:28

Why can't the DC carry their own stuff? Whatever they need for school goes in a rucksack, which they wear on their backs on the way to school.

If it's got all that in it's going to be heavy so unless you're exceptionally strong, is going to be bad for your back and shoulders.

If they won't carry their own stuff, tell them that the alternative is that you put it all in a shopping trolley and move it that way.

l shall now crawl under my duvet and cry Grin

Has nobody suggested a Le Pliage yet? Sacrilege! People swear by them. You can certainly fit a lot in them.

I have one of these that I ordered thinking it would be a good beach bag. I could fit several small children in it along with their belongings.
I know you said not cloth, but the reinforced bottom has taken a lot of abuse from me and still looks great. They always have an offer on, it’s 40% off at the moment.

This one actually looks great. Very robust.

@LadyOfTheCanyon I like Le Pliage bags but I always find the larger ones have overly short handles unfortunately.

@PieMashLiquor I’d happily pay for a Mulberry but images make the Daria look too small for the vast quantities of stuff School seems to demand on occasion.
