Wart removal on face

Hi can anyone give me some advice on wart removal? It’s near my eyelid about half an inch away below my lower lashes and most of the creams/gels for wart removal say not to use near the face or eyes.
have tried banana skin, duct tape & apple cider vinegar so may need to look at a medical/ cosmetic option.

I had what is called a naevus on the end of my nose. It was flat and then suddenly became a bump, with hairs !! I could see it. Worse my dd pointed it out all the time, referring to it as a witch's nose. I had it removed by a dermatologist. They checked that it wasn't cancerous, too.

Not in the UK, though.

Clear nail polish works wonders - just apply, leave it well alone and re-apply daily.

This has got rid of any warts I have ever had including a very nasty verruca I had for about 7 years. I have just removed another wart in this way and it was gone in under 2 weeks.

I had a mole removed at The Mole Clinic in London. They might do warts as well?

I came here to suggest nail varnish as well!

I got rid of a wart on my leg I'd had for probably 25 years by putting a layer on nail varnish on it regularly. It just shrank to nothing and never returned.

Clear polish as PP says is a great idea for the face. Worth a try 🤞

I had what my GP initially told me was a wart. The derm told me that it was simply a raised mole and most likely benign.

She would usually just remove these things in her office (freezing IIRC).

BUT she said that this was too risky on the face/near the eyes. Seeing as scars and skin irregularities are much more of an issue there than other body parts.
She therefore referred me to a plastic surgeon.

Based on this:

  1. Are you absolutely sure that this is a wart?
  1. I really would not dare to remove this at home! It seems incredibly risky (based on what I was told in a similar situation).

I have a wart on my face too, so thanks for starting this thread OP.
In response to pp, yes I am sure it is a wart - they have a specific kind of mini-giants causeway construction that I am very familiar with.

I will give the clear nail varnish a try. Have also heard thuja oil can be helpful... have got some but been rather inconsistent with application.

How much does a dermatologist cost for mole removal?

Kdubs1981 · 16/05/2023 18:13

I had mine removed in one session/consultation with a consultant dermatologist. She froze it off.

Check out wart removal by electrolysis. Most skin clinics offer this. It is quick and does not cause any significant scarring,

I had a friend who had a stubborn wart near her eyelid, just like yours, and she tried all the home remedies but nothing worked. She ended up going to Meyer Clinic in Chichester for treatment, and they used gentle cryotherapy (freezing) since it’s safe for delicate areas like the eye. It was quick, didn’t leave a scar, and the wart was gone in about a week! Since over-the-counter creams aren’t safe for the face, I’d definitely recommend seeing a professional. Maybe check a good dermatologist to see what they suggest for your specific case. Hope that helps!
