Closed toe shoes to wear with floaty summer trousers?

It's floaty summer trouser season and I gleefully got mine out of the wardrobe this morning.

I wore them for a casual dog walk in a nature reserve this morning and remembered why I hardly wear them for that sort of thing. I have no idea what style of shoe I can wear with them that aren't sandals?

For dog walks I do need a closed toe shoe/trainer.

I wore Skechers with them but I think they looked a bit, er, wrong.

White trainers just felt a bit weird with them (plus they'd get filthy quickly, walking through wet grass).

Any ideas, MN? What comfy, closed toe shoes (not sandals) could I wear?

Ballet -style slippers but with a chunkier sole

Are floaty trousers the right attire for a possibly muddy dog walk? I don’t have a dog but if I did and was going to be walking on wet grass I would be wearing chino style cotton trousers and a pair of gum boots - maybe those short ankle ones!

I wear toms with all things at all times all summer if that helps.

I walk the dog in slip on vans. Particularly the comfycush ones as they're like walking on air but still keep a slim profile.

That said, im addicted to slip on bloody-vans as they do them in such a range of colours.

Espadrilles, but not sure if they're best choice for muddy walks, as might be a nightmare to clean.

Backless loafers, they have great ones at Next and Primark

I wear lots of floaty trousers and try to go on an evening walk most days.

I just get changed into a pair of leggings and trainers for the walk. Floaty trousers and shoes that look right with them are no good for muddy walks.

I am very tempted to get some clogs this summer. They will, hopefully, be practical, stylish and comfortable. These are nice:

Clogs with wood are heavy, but comfy and very retro late 70s. Have you looked at Haflingers? Comfy and footbed too
