How to sort out thin '90s eyebrows

Fairylights7 · 13/05/2023 21:59

My eye downs are quite thin from over plucking in the 90s when it was the in thing to have thin eyebrows. Totally clueless on how to make them look thicker, without looking like two hairy caterpillars above my eyebrows. Any tips?

Lamination, tint and wax!

Heinzbakedbeans · 13/05/2023 22:02

Leave them. You'll be back in fashion soon

I have the same problem @Fairylights7 . I regret those skinny 90s brows now. I use a good pencil to fill in the gaps and then brush them upwards with some gel. I've just discovered the Elf brow gel in a pot and it's great - much better than other gels I've tried.

Thanks @WhereAreWeNow , what pencil do you use and what colour? I’ve got brown hair and black eyebrows. And what brush do you use (said I was clueless!!) And what do you use the gel for and how do you apply? Ta!

Mictoblading sorted out mine. A really natural shape (not really thick as that would look awful on me) & a natural colour too. Really pleased I got mine a few years ago - they're fab

Have you thought about microblading? I lost my eyebrows whilst I had chemotherapy and had them microbladed as they started to grow back. They were very natural looking, however I was quite particular in picking out the technician as I knew the look I was trying to achieve.

Check out Phi Brow technicians in your area.

very natural looking micro blading technique

You could also start applying a brow growth serum, there are loads out there, I’m guessing they’re all pretty similar.

I use a Barry M pencil. I like it because it's got a really soft, gel texture and the colour is good. It's important to get a cool, ashy, brown. Some pencils are too warm coloured and that doesn't look natural.
Lots of eyebrow gels come in a tube like mascara with its own little brush. The Elf one is in a pot and you buy the brush separately (it's called a spoolie brush). You use the gel to brush the brows upwards and set them in place to make them seem bushier than they are.

I had this problem and in the end just left them alone for a few months and then went to a salon to have them shaped so I didn’t make them too thin again. Benefit Gimme Brow was good for building brows up slightly in the meantime, and filled in bigger gaps with rimmel brow pencil. You could get a mini version of the Gimme Brow to see if you like it / go to a counter in a shop and ask the rep.

Organic castor oil for brows helps them grow

Another one for microblading. I have naturally thick eyebrows but I used this technique to fill them in. It’s amazing - had it 2 years + and not needed to touch them. My eyebrows look full and have an amazing shape. I always get compliments on the shape. It’s pricey but it’s a semi permanent solution.
