Boots ‘your complexion your way’ foundation match service

I’m in my late 30s and wear make up maybe once every 1-2 months but I know that the foundation(s) I own aren’t a particularly good match to my face. I own 4 or 5 drug store foundations that I cycle through. I own that many because I can’t seem to find a perfect match to my skin. I see Boots offer a ‘your complexion your way’ appointment which I assume (hope) is a make up artist finding the perfect foundation shade for my skin which sounds exactly what I’m looking for. Has anyone used this service and found it good? I’m also hoping they can match the coverage level with what I’m looking for. I just want my foundation to look like my skin but better! I don’t want crazy full coverage or anything

I had this done a few years ago at boots it was a little machine that scanned my clean make up free skin and matched me with a foundation from their No 7 range. It works great for me and I still use that one now. I'm 37 if that also helps. It is worth doing I think.

Excellent, that sounds exactly what I’m looking for, thank you!

I wonder how many shades they have to choose from

Not sure I'm pale and use calico

I had mine done at that Boots no 7 thing. I was told l have a very warm based skin.

Except I’m a summer. And warm colours look terrible on me.

I imagine you'd be better going somewhere like Space NK if there's one near you where they have access to loads of different brands and ask them to help you. The staff in there are usually great.

Once you find a shade that works for you, there's a website that allows you to find your shade in other brands/types - findation.com. The No7 shade I was given was a good fit with the Estée Lauder shade I like

It worlds really well and I really like the tinted moisturiser which is like a really light foundation and offers good coverage with some concealer needed a few red areas.
the only thing I find is that it doesn’t last long. Especially in summer. I leave the house looking ‘out together ’ but by lunchtime it all needs refreshing x

This is such a good website.

Doesnt the Boots service only match you with No7 products?

Agreed that once you know your No7 shade, Findation is a great resource.
