Chanel Bag Repair

I know this is a huge first world problem, but I have managed to snap the straps on not one, but two, Chanel bags. One has broken clean in the middle (when it accidentally got caught on a shopping trolley 🙄) and the other the actual part where the strap attaches to the bag has physically come off (this one is vintage, so likely it’s down to age of the item).

I’ve looked at bag repair websites, but they do make me nervous. Aside from going direct to Chanel - which I am happy to do if there isn’t another alternative - does anyone know of good options for such repairs? Thank you

I follow The Restory on Instagram as I am somewhat addicted to their visually satisfying restoration of designer goods. I have no personal experience, but they might be a good starting point?

I've heard mixed reports about The Restory's work. I used the Handbag Spa to repair a vintage Chanel bag - the strap had detached itself on one side of the bag. I wasn't happy with the rethreading of the leather/chain.

I wish I had just taken my bag back to Chanel and asked their advice. And this is what I would recommend to you as a starting point - contact either their customer services or your salesperson and ask them if if they do repairs in house or if they have an external partner.

oh damn, sorry!

I would go back to Chanel and ask them

Shit! I can’t believe the Restory went bust! I was about to recommend them - they did a Chanel
bag for me a couple of years ago and it was done beautifully. You couldn’t tell anything had ever been done to it.

Bollocks!

You might be better off asking in the PurseBlog Forum - in the US they have a go to called Leather Surgeons but perhaps there’s a UK equivalent.

I had my bag repaired at Chanel. Rethreading of leather on the chain. Cost £5.00. This was back in 2014.

Thank you so much, everyone. It sounds like going straight to Chanel is going to be my best option. Thank you.
