Overlay for evening dress

I’m wearing this dress to a black tie function. The piece of lace in the picture is just a piece of lace cut off something, in parts it isn’t even hemmed. I wondered if I could upgrade this. I saw a couture advert on my social media with a thing like a short lace t-shirt over an evening gown. Could I find something like that? What would I search for?

If you want that open effect then I'd suggest you searched for a lace capelet which would give a similar effect. Something like this

The only problem with those options is that they tend to obscure the neckline which might affect your choice of jewellery. If this is a problem then you cold look for a lace bolero which would just cover your shoulders and arms and leave the neckline free

If you wanted something longer then perhaps a lace cardigan although they can look a bit frumpy over an evening dress

These are great, thank you. The dress is all about the fabric, which is quite a magical metallic dark beyond midnight blue. It has a rather sorry looking row of silver sequins at the top - do you think I could try silver overblouse? Thinking about it, I should stay quite simple, there is a very fancy arrangement of cut outs at the back. The plain mesh might be best. In the picture I’m going to a fancy dress party, but this isn’t one!
