Two day hearing in the family court coming up. I need to sort out what I will wear.

I don't want to look too corporate and I don't want to look too Mumsy, I want to feel like "me" and I want to be comfortable.

I suddenly have nothing!!! I've blitzed through my wardrobe. I've trawled online through the usual suspects but coming up blank.

Maybe you ladies can jolt me out of it! I don't mind spending a bit.

I'm late 40s, 5 10, size 12

HELP!

And stories of how to be comfortable in a courtroom very welcome. I'll be giving statements and interrogated by opposition for a long time.

Are you going to pay for next day delivery or going to physical shops. I recently bought a sosander dress from the original factory shop.

They don't have the one I bought but this looks like it would be suitable.

Can you give us an idea of what you usually wear to be comfortable? How about a suit with a t-shirt and smart trainers to dress it down a bit? Or wide leg trousers and a coordinating but not matching jacket? I don't feel as comfortable in these situations in dresses as I do in trousers but you may be completely different. And I find a suit can sometimes make me feel a lot more confident as I feel like I look the part even if I don't feel the part (dress for success!)

Do you have legal representation? If you do, take their advice before mine but it sounds like it will be a tough few days. I would advise making a lot of notes in advance, getting enough sleep if you can - exercise will help you sleep and let off steam afterwards if you can even do a yoga video on YouTube it will settle your mind.

Then when you are asked questions make sure you understand clearly before you start answering and don't worry about pausing to gather your thoughts or refer to notes. Don't fill silences or volunteer extra info they haven't asked for, or start blaming or trying to explain everything from the beginning. Remember the lawyers and judge are there to do their job and the opposition representation is just trying to lay out their case to their best advantage, as is yours as well. If you can see the whole process as progress, moving forward, serving the interests of the kids and what's best for them rather than settling scores (hard as that may be to let difficult experiences go). Hope that makes sense.

Hi - thank you both for going to the trouble of replying.

All good questions! I'll be doing online ordering as I'm very fine pooed between now and the court date.

In my head I was thinking dress - I find dresses so easy to wear but! My work dresses are so business casual and then my more proper ones look too formal! I just don't know what to wear. I'm definitely blocked about how to present myself.

I put on a stone in the last year and all trousers I've bought end up duds as I can't figure the right style for my new ... expanded waistline without gaining far too much material on the bum!

I like the idea is a casual /non match jacket with trousers though. Saw a nice j let on whistles w wasn't too formal, I could work my way down from there- will grab the link -

Jersey jacket - possibly white?

Then a T-shirt and trousers?

Really want to be comfortable and I'm guessing there will be a tonne of air con so will probably be freezing?!
