Lip Balm Recommendations Please

BeretRaspberry · 07/05/2023 22:11

My lips are often dry and flaky and I’ve tried so many things which I’ve listed below, so I just wondered if I could have recommendations other than these please.

Blistex
Carmex
Vaseline
Avene Cicalfate
Bondi Sands SPF50
Bepanthanol
Lasinoh Nipple Cream

Thank you.

My ds gets really dry lips, I took him in to lush and they suggested lip scrub and then lip balm. There are lots of different flavours

LottieePopssX · 07/05/2023 22:14

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour skin protectant. I think they actually have a lip balm in the 8 hour range too xx

Felicity42 · 07/05/2023 22:15

Burt's Bees.

I agree with this. Either an exfoliating lip balm, or brush your lips when you brush your teeth then apply lip balm straight away.
Palmers lip balm is great.
Or any l'occitane balm.
Body shop so nice lip scrubs

Flipflops123 · 07/05/2023 22:16

And lather it on at night too

Cannot beat the Elizabeth Arden one.

PimpMyFridge · 07/05/2023 22:17

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour OR Palmer's cocoa butter lip balm...
One is amazing and lasts ages but pricey, one is amazing fits into pocket easily and available in all good drug stores inexpensively.

Lillipops · 07/05/2023 22:17

Burts bees or Clinique are really good. I was on medication for a while and my lips were so sore they both helped immensely

fishym2b · 07/05/2023 22:19

O'Keefe's is the best and comes in an fragrance free version.
Carmex is also good.

Bullshot · 07/05/2023 22:20

I like Ultrasun lip SPF - seems to keep my lips well moisturised , isn’t tinted or too shiny .

BeretRaspberry · 07/05/2023 22:31

Thanks everyone! I’ve ordered a lip scrub and might start by using that alongside the current ones I have as I have loads! If no improvement, I’ll try the other suggestions.

Another vote for Elizabeth Arden. The only one that makes any difference

Blarn · 07/05/2023 22:37

Burts Bee's and O'Keefs for me. Moisturising and waxy.

General rule is avoid anything that feels tingly, it just dries them out.

gogogoji · 07/05/2023 22:43

Laneige or Nivea stick

ErikaReadsTheDailyMail · 07/05/2023 22:51

Lansinoh nipple cream (the one in the purple tube), is 100% lanolin and knocks every other lip balm out of the ball park.
Nothing else works for me and I suffer terribly with chapped lips.
It's an expensive initial outlay, about a tenner) if you have any for it's intended purposes, but I've had the same tube for 5 years now and it's still going strong.

Rainbowshit · 07/05/2023 22:54

Blistex in the metal tube and o'keefes are the best.

Niftythrifter · 07/05/2023 23:02

Nuxxe Rev de Mielle in the pot

LondonLovie · 07/05/2023 23:06

Ducray lip balm. French brand, it's about £7 and the best.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/05/2023 23:17

Hurraw lip balm
Paw Paw
(My DD favourite)

I like DrLipp in different colours

I bought the Aldi Dupe of the 8 Hour Cream /Superbalm . Hated it , so painful.felt like my lip skin was being peeled off in sheets !

Darkroot · 07/05/2023 23:21

La Roche posay

adagio · 07/05/2023 23:22

Blistex blue pot medi lip balm, after exfoliating. Or for really really bad lips blistex in a metal tube with red lid.

I suspect everyone is different though as I’ve previously tried a lot of the recommendations on this thread and not necessarily rated them (8h cream tasted gross for instance).

BeretRaspberry · 09/05/2023 13:33

Just thought I’d update. I ordered a Barry M lip scrub which came yesterday. I used it when it came and again this morning and oh my word, what a difference! It’s meant I’ve now got no dry, loose skin to bite or pick at and coupled with slathering on the lip stuff I already have, it’s honestly made such a difference!

I will still try some of the other suggestions as I get through my current stash though, as I do love a lip balm, so thank you!
