Gold hardware on handbag

How long would you expect this to last? I've had my bag (not cheap) for 5 months and the gold hardware has already rubbed off slightly

Thanks

Do you mean gold plated? That doesn't last, so I wouldn't expect very long from the bag tbh.

Yes gold plated. Just thought it wouldn't rub off for at least a year or two considering the price of the bag...

I always opt for gold hardware and have never had it rub off so I’d say years. What brand is it?

Who has solid gold hardware on their bag 🙃surely the vast majority of “gold” hardware on handbags is gilt plate?!

LadyWhineglass · 07/05/2023 07:30

£500 or £5,000 bag?

The price doesn't change the fact it's plated unfortunately.

Thanks all. Annoyed to have wasted my money!

What make is it? Perhaps someone can help you with getting a replacement from customer service

VenusClapTrap · 08/05/2023 11:57

That’s quite poor. I usually find it lasts a couple of years, and I’m not talking about crazy money bags. I don’t usually spend more than a couple of hundred on a bag.

I've got a £££ handbag with gold hardware, it's 2 years old and barely any tarnishing so I'd expect quite a lifetime on a new bag!
