Has anyone tried a Unik?

Just seen an ad for a UNIK on FB and it looks the business - it looks a bit like a pummice stone you rub over unwanted hair and it gets rid of it without any residual pimpliness - but obviously, as a cynical old bag I'm not taking an ad's word for it. Has anyone on here got one and if so, would you recommend it?

Watching with interest.

Cynical me imagines it surely having to cause a 'scouring action' level of pain to be effective? And redness for hours/days on pale skin?

Willing to be told otherwise, though. Would certainly save a heap of money.

Bumping for both of us!

🙂

I found it didn't really work, but left my shins sore and red for a few weeks. Would not recommend!

CampfireZen · 05/05/2023 15:13

Ah, shame. I thought it probably must do, by the very nature of the method needed.

Flaying doesn't appeal!

Yy you were quite right to think that. Complete waste of money. Maybe it could be repurposed to sand wood or something 🤔

FetchezLaVache · 06/05/2023 03:06

Sand wood!! 😂

OK, fair enough. You've saved me twenty quid!

My Nan told me to use pumice on my leg hair to get rid of it forever. She was born during WW1 and lived in remote Australia, so she might have been into something? I never had the guts to do it as a teen and forgot til this thread!!

You used to be able to get little grey cardboard pads that were pretty much made of very fine grade sandpaper . My mother made me use them instead of a razor (fuck knows why that was) but they did work. Didn't hurt my skin

DS just told me that in the day, monks used a stone to keep their heads bald, so I guess in theory it should work, but I'm not buying the painless claim of Unik... shame.
