Roman rant

Because of the dearth of High Street clothing shops I have been looking at sites I wouldn't normally look at to buy tshirts and the like. So, in the last year or so I have had three orders from Romans originals.

Most of the orders have been returned - which you have to pay for. Each time the returns take so long to process. They owe me 40 quid, not a great deal but I want it back. Its been 8 working days with no acknowledgment. Chased them. Got a standard response saying returns are taking a long time at the moment, and if you have not heard anything by 20 days, get back to them. I have had this standard response every time. There is no way their processes are held up for such a long period over a year.

This will be the last time. They are clearly sitting on the money and make you chase. They bombard you with loads of marketing emails but don't want to refund money.

Just a warning to avoid this lot. Annoying practice and a bit shady.

Ive had some clothes from them and quite like them, but was lucky that some of the stuff I got from a local garden centre and the other things were online which fitted ok

I do hate the fact that there is such a lack of choice on the high street and you just cant tell online what things are going to feel and look like

I have some stuff from them and they've been good but I bought them through next and the returns are super from there.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 03/05/2023 18:56

We have a Roman store in our town as well

AzureBlue99 · 03/05/2023 19:00

Yeah, the clothes I wanted weren't bad, just too long for me. I don't think you can return online orders to their stores, not that I have one near. Not complaining of the clothes but the sharp practice of sitting on returns and making you chase. Might consider getting from Next but their shady customer service doesn't deserve my business.

I won't be ordering from them again.

I am at a stage in life where I have money to spend on clothes, just as the High Street is dying.

Sorry I didn't realise that. Clothes shopping is shite these days.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 03/05/2023 23:08

Agree. I ordered once but never again. It took ages to get my money back.

Could you learn to take things up? Hemming is really not that difficult, it’s quite tranquil doing it while you watch Tv out of the other eye. I think there is also a sticky iron on tape which will help to turn up a hem.

AzureBlue99 · 04/05/2023 02:14

I bought t-shirt and tops, I don't want to take them up. They were just too long in the body. That is beside the point. As useful a skill as sewing is, my beef is aimed at them deliberately withholding refunds as standard, but pretending they have a temporary processing issue. It is their default practice for refunds - to keep your money for as long as possible and then you can chase after 20 days. But at the same time bombard you with marketing emails, which I will now be unsubscribing.

If you are new to this company, I would not bother if there is a likelihood of you needing a refund. It's shit and devious policy.

I was considering making an order. Won't bother now. Thanks for the warning.
