Birkenstock sizing

10 years ago, I bought some Arizonas, size 4.5. I am usually a size 6. Those sandals have fitted me perfectly ever since but I think it is time to replace them. Are there any regular Birkenstock buyers here? Should I still go for a 4.5, even though I am a UK 6, or has the sizing changed at all in 10 years?

I need to size down in Birkies too. I don't think their sizing has changed.

chalkyc2 · 03/05/2023 18:22

I am usually a 6 and get a 5/38 in Birkenstocks....sorry not so helpful!!

EatTheDamnCake · 03/05/2023 18:23

I wear my usual size in Birkenstocks (Arizonas) but I do have weirdly long toes 🤢

Shinyandnew1 · 03/05/2023 18:26

I am a 5/38 in all shoes but buy a 37 in Birkenstocks. My sister in law who is a 6 couldn’t fit in my 37s.

mewkins · 03/05/2023 18:27

I am a 6 and take a 38 in Birkenstocks

midsomermurderess · 03/05/2023 18:31

I have found them very wide. During lockdown, so I couldn’t try them on, I bought some big-buckle Madrids in standard width because I thought narrow would never fit me. Narrow would actually have been perfect.

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 03/05/2023 18:33

have been considering Mayaris so following with interest!

tried on & def needed a size down (5 from 6) but wasn’t sure if I needed narrow (which the shop didn’t have)

Dortmunder · 03/05/2023 19:19

I'm a six and wear a 39.

HappiDaze · 03/05/2023 19:21

I'm a 7 and wear a 7 Arizona suede

DD has size 6 leather and I can fit into them but my 7 is more comfy for me

The length of your toes is yore important.
The narrow fit seem to be standard.

I'm a 5 and wear a 5

Okki · 03/05/2023 20:59

I'm a 5 and have had 4 pairs in size 5 with no issues.

GayPareeee · 03/05/2023 21:11

I'm a 6.5/7 wide and fit a 39 mayari perfectly, I don't have very long toes though

GayPareeee · 03/05/2023 21:12

^ normal width

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/05/2023 21:15

I’m a UK 4 and wear a 4.

Wherethewildthymeblows · 03/05/2023 21:15

Thank you for your responses. It would seem the sizing is more accurate now. I'm not sure how I managed to fit a 4.5 so well! My feet fit as per the picture above, yet I am a size 6 in everything else. I've not got long toes though, very much a wide, Celtic foot shape, if anyone knows what I mean by that. I'm going to have to try some on in a shop, aren't I? Grrrr.

Size 6, wear a 39

EversoDisorganised · 03/05/2023 21:19

Size 5.5 to 6, wear a 39. I have wide feet and very short toes.

User63847484848 · 03/05/2023 21:20

I had some Madrid from 10+ yrs ago and replaced them last year and found the sizing was the same.
I’m a 4-4.5 and need a narrow 36 (3.5) in them

It’s annoying, the narrow ones are actually normal width, and the regular ones are actually a wide fit. Loads of shoe shops that stock them, only stock the narrow ones because they’re normal fit. I don’t know why they label them in the way they do.

midsomermurderess · 04/05/2023 15:13

@Topictwenty It’s annoying if you don’t know, isn’t it? I pretty much can’t wear them because I have to set the buckle at its narrowest setting but it then digs horribly in to my feet.

GettingStuffed · 04/05/2023 15:22

I'm normally a 6 but wear a 5 in Birkenstock, I did have a Madrid in a 4 which fit me but they flap so I gave them to dd

NotAnotherBathBomb · 04/05/2023 16:14

I've just ordered another pair. I'm a 9/43 there when I'm usually a 10.

I'd just say order the size you normally do. It hasn't failed me so far

NotAnotherBathBomb · 04/05/2023 16:17

Oh I should add, I bought my last pair 3 years ago, so I hope any changes to sizing isn't as recent Confused

Summerhillsquare · 04/05/2023 17:04

I'm 38 and wear a 35, v wide feet too. Go figure 🤔
