Would this work on size 20ish?

Have a lunch/cocktails girls day coming up soon and looking for an outfit. Nothing overly fancy, “casual but nice” dress code lol.

I’m trying to breakaway from my usual jeans. Do you think a dress like this would work on a larger body? I’m a size 20ish and carry it mainly on my belly. I’m 5’7”.

Was thinking of pairing it with tan sandals and bag, gold jewellery and a denim jacket?

Yes definitely, I'm a size 20 and it's similar to a lot of dresses I own.

However I often find myself in the minority when it comes to plus size fashion on here as I just wear what I like and don't adhere to all the random MN rules.

Possibly unhelpful but I think you’d need to try it as so much depends how the waist falls so as much about height as weight- looks like it’s sort of low empire- is it gathered?

Yes absolutely. I think the combination of v neck, defined waist and loose skirt can be really flattering and pretty.

I'm a similar size and only wear dresses. Most are like that and are extremely flattering and pretty,whereas jeans make me look square-shaped! I think you'll look lovely.

Can anyone help with shoes? It’s for a late lunch & cocktails. Then round a few pubs. I had planned a tan wedge sandal - but the forecast is currently for torrential rain 😅 (hopefully that’s wrong!)

If it does rain you might want boots? Also, I went out today in white leather trainers and it absolutely chucked it down. I actually had drier feet than the DCs who were in wellies 😂. Obviously I wasn't splashing in puddles like they were though. But basically I think leather trainers might also be fairly waterproof

Keep your fingers crossed and wear your sandals. If not maybe trainers or possibly ankle books.

What is the fit length like on your dress is it neat/roomy etc. I am 6ft tall and a good size 20-22 do you think it might work for me? Based on all the comments your dress should look good OP enjoy your day out.

I am same size and short, and just started with the dresses last year. Pair of chub rub shorts under my dress was a life saver.

Also found that knowing what suits your shape is best. I'm considered an apply, so not all dresses will suit and I've to be mindful of empire, but a shirred waist looks flattering.

And you can't beat runners and a wee jacket. There is a reason everyone wears it in the summer!

@BeeBB I’m 5’7” and a good 20-22 too 👍🏻 I got a size 20 and it fits with plenty of room left. Not clingy at all 😊 it sits just slightly longer on me than it does on the model. I think it would work great for you 😊

Due to its styling, It's definitely the type of dress that works for a taller frame, and I think it will look ace on you op at 5'7". Out of interest does it mention the height of the model?, go with a heel boot 👢.

Oh that'll teach me for not reading your update! I'm glad you like it, as your pubbing it up after the cocktails, definitely a boot...just make sure they are comfy and a boxy heel rather than pointy heels!
