Can anyone help I'm 42 and have lost my style. I used to love shopping now its hardwork, don't know what I suit and don't know where to shop. My current role, I wear a uniform, so days of are normally trainers, jeans and leggings. I'm starting a new job soon, community nurse so need smart casual clothes. I need a nice jacket, not a suit jacket I don't suit them, flat shoes and tops to hide my fat tummy. Please send me some ideas

Do you need a tailored jacket or something softer that can be put in the washing machine?

I was looking at some Umpie bags which look roomy and have a zip. I liked the houndstooth one.

bellalou1234 · 02/05/2023 22:06

Maybe like a short mac or trench coat.. I'm away to look at those bags now.. Thank you

Zara and Mango have long and short trenches. I think for home visits something more compact that you can keep together over your bag, as there’s usually little space in the houses and other things to carry.

Uniqlo also have short and long trench coats.

Haha, for me too. I liked the houndstooth one as it’s not too loud.

I was looking at my clothes just yesterday and thinking how I’m utterly bored of them all. They’re all nice and so on, but I’ve collected 4 bags for the charity shops.

I do like that. I ordered a short trench from all saints that didn't suit me thank god as it was a fortune. My mam said I looked huge. I've seen an espirit short mac but aren't sure I'll send the link

Ok so guessing it has to be machine washable, tops need to be bare below the elbow and skirts can't be short incase you have to sit down in a low chair/bed?

I loved working in the community as a specialist nurse but almost ended up with a uniform of navy M&S trousers with pockets and pastel blouses Confused

M&S are still good for relaxed blazers that don't look too corporate & Next & Uniqlo have a good choice of blouses.

Some of the brands aimed at younger ages like H&M & New Look are also good for jackets and slightly less formal suits. You could wear with a more fro

https://www.johnlewis.com/whistles-slim-jersey-blazer-blue/p6129899 something like this looks smart, neutral but not boring colour, machine washable.
