Shoes for an 18 yo dancing queen

Dd has bought a lovely floor length strappy dress for her prom. She doesn't want to wear her DMs or Converse with it but she has never worn heels and is a bit lost. She will want to dance as much as possible, but she's revising before exams and doesn't have time to go and try lots of pairs on. The only pair of heels I comfortably danced in were lace up ankle boots with a Louis heel and that style would look all wrong. I don't possess any heels at all, can anyone steer us towards anything?

My friend is a ballroom dancer and she always wears beautiful shoes. You can get ones just for dancing in but it may be worth looking at these to see if it narrows down the style. Last time I danced I wore embroidered slippers

Maybe something like these dance shoes would work?

Obviously not high fashion, and an 18 year old might be appalled at the very thought (!)

But her dress is floor-length anyway, so the look is not vital. I guess she just wants to feel 'dressier' than wearing the comfier DMs/Converse option. (Or wedges?)

Being specifically built for long hours of dance, the block heel's definitely easier on a heel novice than stiletto!

When you say her dress is "floor-length", do you mean no shoe would show, or has it got side splits etc. that mean it would?

I was going to suggest actual dance shoes as well. A friend of mine wears them to all her dressy functions; she says it’s been a game changer in the comfort stakes. They look nice too, I think.

It's a floor length one with a split on the side, so her leg will be visible once she's moving around.
