Dandruff shampoo or conditioner

Dd2 (23) has really bad dandruff. I want to get her a shampoo and conditioner that will make her feel good when using it but also will work with the dandruff.

Years ago I used a really fmdoog tea tree one but I don't recall the brand and we have moved so no longer with that hairdresser. (And I think he has changed brands too)

Any suggestions?

Oh gosh I was mortified when a hairdresser told me very bluntly that i had really bad dandruff. She recommended Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner which I bought on the way home. It worked very well. However I have now stopped using it as we have fitted a water softener and it hasn’t come back. Im sure our water is full of nasty stuff that is affecting us in so many ways.

If it's really bad she may have seborrhoeic dermatitis.... It's worth understanding of so as you need to use products that don't feed the yeast that causes it.

I've seen Nizoral shampoo recommended by several MN users

Another recommendation for Nizoral here. It completely cleared my dandruff and left my hair looking good. Once the dandruff has gone, you only have to use it occasionally to stop it coming back.

Head and shoulders made my hair brittle with lots of breakage.

Philip Kingsley itchy scalp shampoo and conditioner. Took care of my dandruff and my hair has never been softer.

How bad are we talking about?

If it's very bad: you could go to a dermatologist (if you have access to one)? I'd ask a good/reputable hairdresser otherwise.

As others have mentioned, water quality might be a factor as well.
