A thread to help me know what to dump

Anyone fancy helping me know what to do with my hoard?

A combination of advent calendars and problem skin (suspect roasacea which responded to metronizadole but not soolantra; very dry and angry) means I've ended up with this which has been sitting unissued for years.

What should I keep and use with that skin, and what should I donate or dump?

I've tried to sort it into groups:

  • Cleansers,
  • moisturisers/creams
  • treatments and exfoliants
  • serums and tonics

Would appreciate help! What have you loved/hated

Keep the laroche possay cleanser for the roseacea, elemis i think is fab too,not sure on the rest sorry!

Borisisafecklesstoad · 01/05/2023 19:30

I think you get the same boxes as me 😳

Beautyhoard · 01/05/2023 21:14

La roche posay is generally inoffensive for my skin (though does make me spotty) but no miracle worker. I'm currently
Not using any cleanser 😳

I never dump anything, I just use it elsewhere on the body. So creams that don’t suit my face I usually use on my neck, décolletage, hands etc.

my rosacea responds very well to Child’s Farm moisturising lotion in the pump bottle and Sollantra. It also really likes Finacea which I put on my T zone (where I get oily and spotty).

I think we have bought some of the same boxes/calendars. I've used the Lacura cleanser and it has been OK on my sensitive skin. Also the REN products. I do use Alpha H but only if my skin is feeling good as it can make it tingle a bit too much sometimes. I recognise the Meso mask and the reveal peel but haven't used them yet - I've had them sitting around for about three years now.

The Estée Lauder little cream pots you've posted, and the brown serum, I love! I only ever get them when they're an offer with the ELDW due to the price, but if I had the money I get them regularly

The things that I do not like for my face I use on my body.

Scrubs on legs, arms and hands. Ditto moisturisers etc. I slather the serums and tonics on my neck and chest area.

MallMoo · 01/05/2023 21:42

Not sure if it would affect the rosacea but I absolutely love the ren ready steady glow tonic. I use it daily and it really does leave my skin glowing

That's what i was thinking 😅

Anything unopened would be a wonderful gift for raffles women’s refuge.

nofusspot · 01/05/2023 21:58

Don't use the effaclar cleanser on roasacea skin. I'm not sure about the others.

Don't use any of the treatments but the pink clay one will be good to dab if you get any normal spots not rosaea spots.

Moisturiser- try this la Roche posay one and possibly the elemis though it is quite fragranced and tbh you'd be best selling it un opened on ebay.

No idea what any of the serums and tonics are sorry

For where?

My plan is to donate what I can but most things don't have seals on, so I can't prove that they're unopened sadly

I would use the spare scrubs and moisturisers on my hands and feet.
I also give DH any moisturisers that I no longer use as he's not fussy.
I use body butter or really thick moisturiser for shaving my legs it leaves them lovely and soft.

WithIcePlease · 01/05/2023 23:58

The ecooking vit c serum I thought was v nice. It's good to use a vit c in the mornings if you can fit it in

Re cleansers - for my skin, I can use anything. I don't personally think it's that important tbh so maybe just work your way through those? Dump anything that doesn't suit you obvs

I just put stuff on my neck etc to use up as said before

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 02/05/2023 00:16

Anything I've tried from Avant has been utter shite so I'd dump that

Deathraystare · 03/05/2023 16:41

I work in a psychiatric unit and any beauty stuff I want to get rid of I know the ladies on the PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Ward) ward will be grateful for! Same with clothes but I keep forgetting about that. It is shocking how much make up and toiletries I have got rid of and still have bags more.

whatausername · 03/05/2023 16:49

Ohh have you tried The Ordinary Azaleic Acid? Curious to know what it's like!

abvgd · 03/05/2023 21:57

Azelaic is good for rosacea
