5 weeks to improve everything (physically!) about me!

In 5 weeks I’m going to be a bridesmaid for my best friend. I’m the biggest I’ve ever been (5ft 5, 17st 10lbs), due to medication I’ve put 2 stone on since January. I have a dress I like but I want to feel like I’ve put the next 5 weeks to good use. I know I’m not going to miraculously lose 3 stone but I want to be one of those glorious glowy ladies. So I’m thinking the usual, eat plenty of veg/fruit, drink plenty of water, get out walking bit any other tips or tricks?

Good luck!

Moisturise, exfoliate, manicure, pedicure, hair masque, skin hair and nails vitamins, body brush. Just some ideas.

Exercise every day. The effect won't be in your weight but in your circulation- your skin will look much better - your posture, and how you feel.

Drink plenty of water. Cut back on sugar and caffeine. Get plenty of sleep. Eat to nourish your body.

I would start with a simple but dedicated skincare routine morning and night. If I've got in a rut, paying attention to my nails and my skin daily gives quick results and gives me confidence to do more. It will pay off in wedding photos too.

I like to do a double cleanse at night, first with an oil based cleanser or coconut oil and warm cloth followed by a cream cleanser with cotton wool or a face wash. Then toner or serum, then moisturiser. I like to use a snail gel to lock in the products. In the morning a simple cleanse, tone, moisturise.

Maybe a hair trim/colour, exfoliation of the face and body then some tanning drops in a body moisturiser daily the week before. A bit more attention to eating and drinking well as you say. I think a few small things that give you more confidence on the day is easier to achieve than a massive makeover but it's nice to have a reason like an event to get motivated.

How much money do you have? Maybe ozempic?

SleazyLizzard · 01/05/2023 19:23

Get your hair done, it always improved the way you feel

BungalowLil · 01/05/2023 19:30

I know you won't lost 3 stone, but if you want to lose some weight then I can't recommend Slimming World highly enough. I lost a stone in January and a stone since then. Still have a stone to go but I was feeling better from day one.

amymel2016 · 01/05/2023 19:36

Thanks all! It’s nice not to be told it’s too late as that’s what I keep telling myself!

I need to get back on the skincare, I bought a NuFace last year so thinking I need to start using it more regularly.

@BungalowLil I lost 4 stone with Slimming World a couple of years ago, it really worked for me. I can’t get my head back in the game yet so trying to concentrate on other stuff but a stone sounds like an achievable amount. Well done for losing!

Agree that I look a lot better when I do exercise regularly (daily if possible)

Also avoid too much sugar, alcohol and caffeine

TheShade · 01/05/2023 19:49

Cut sugar & booze totally
Reduce carbs (i would cut out bread, pasta, rice completely and reduce complex carbs)
snack on proteins
eat 3 small meals of protein and veg
keep calorie count under 1300

drink 1.5-3l water
go for 1hr runs or a dance workout once a day
meditate for 30 mins before bed (helps to get decent sleep)

get a facial now (not any nearer to date incase of breakouts)
get your hair trimmed two weeks before
get a massage

something that was amazing for me for a plasma facial - but you would ideally get it now because it causes redness. But around 3 weeks after you can see a difference in your skin surface texture.

DanceBeneathADiamondSky · 01/05/2023 19:52

go for 1hr runs

Op weights 17+ stone. Unless she is an experienced runner, this is awful advice!

I'm also struggling with weight ATM op, so absolutely no shade! But you cannot go from no running to 1 hour runs every day. Actually even if I was very slim I wouldn't do that

aibutohavethisusername · 01/05/2023 19:53

Start slowly on the exercise. Walk further and further each day. Gentle swims etc.

Montypulciano · 01/05/2023 19:56

Lots of sleep. Lots of walking. Lots of water. A decent moisturiser at night. SPF in the morning. Good luck. I hope you have a marvellous day 💐💐💐

amymel2016 · 01/05/2023 20:36

@DanceBeneathADiamondSky no offence taken 😂 I’ve got a cross trainer which I use occasionally but even when I was a size 12 running wasn’t for me!

thanks everyone, some really great ideas. I’ve got to the stage where I feel (and look) bloated and grey, all the other bridesmaids are in their 20s and size 8-10, I just don’t want to look like the old grey fat one. I want people to atleast think I look healthy for a fat old bird 😂

A vit c serum really brightens my skin. I like no 7 and Vichy.

LondonQueen · 02/05/2023 01:02

Exercising daily really makes me glow too, I've been drinking orange juice daily for the last couple weeks and have more energy on a morning, M and S do a good orange and mango smoothie that works well, both have lots of vitamin c which is good for skin.
