Honesy there is nothing to be nervous about 😊 it’s a really quick process, you go in & they will discuss with you where you want the Botox. Then they clean those areas with a disinfectant wipe and do the injection. I had mine for frown lines so they just got to me frown so they knew where to do the injections. That’s literally it ! Doesn’t hurt at all and I spent more time chatting to the lady at reception than having Botox.

TheOGCCL · 01/05/2023 17:43

You should get a list of things not to do afterwards including strenuous exercise and tretinoin.

Pegsmum · 01/05/2023 18:01

I was really nervous but it’s honestly nothing to be nervous about-you’ll be fine. Don’t expect to see any results instantly, it takes a while for the full effect.

Judydoes2 · 01/05/2023 18:02

What everyone else said! But I do have them put local anaesthetic on-I go to students (It's a lot cheaper!) and they can be a bit clumsy. Probably wouldn't do anaesthetic if I went to someone qualified with a lot of experience. It's magical-I am always much more confident once I've had it done.

QueefQueen80s · 01/05/2023 18:04

Getting my first soon, can't wait.

raffle · 01/05/2023 18:04

You are not supposed to lie down afterwards, so bear that in mind. It's so quick and I hardly feel anything. Good luck

NotmykingEatCake · 01/05/2023 19:02

Watching....

Nikki360 · 01/05/2023 20:51

I keep going back and forward about getting Botox. Don’t know why im so nervous

AssertiveGertrude · 01/05/2023 20:55

I would love to get it done but I worry would it make my eyelids droopy and be obvious (one lady I work with has a really stark shiny forehead)

I would love a subtle - barely noticeable look but don’t know how to source the right professional

Find a doctor/dentist rather than a beautician.
Why would it make eyelids droopy? It pulls them up

AssertiveGertrude · 01/05/2023 21:38

That’s good to know - the person I work with has really changed and eyes look droopy

none of my business it’s just not what I want myself

Assert150 · 01/05/2023 21:47

This!
Nervous about something going wrong - it would be just my luck😕
It’s a doctor doing it so that’s reassuring me. Hoping for a very subtle effect, to start with anyway 😉Most self-conscious about area around my eyes so unsure if it’ll address that.
Many thanks for all the replies. Wondering also if it’ll be red or anything after i.e any “downtime”?
And also how long till a noticeable difference?

OP posts:
Pegsmum · 01/05/2023 22:02

No downtime really, you should be told not to do anything strenuous or lie down for a while afterwards. You may get a very tiny and slight red mark where you’ve been injected but I find mine fades within an hour or so. I’d say I can see a difference about a week later but I think probably 2/3 weeks later is the final result really.

LimeBasilu · 01/05/2023 22:12

Also… be prepared for it not to work. I didn’t realise this could be the case!

I did my homework, went to a GP who had excellent reviews.

Unfortunately, it just didn’t take on me. Even though she topped it up and said she used more units on me than the average person.

Apparently, some people are just resistant to it! I was absolutely gutted!

I guess the good thing in her case is that it fades but maybe she doesn't see the droop and will keep doing it.

RudolfsLeftToe · 01/05/2023 22:50

@LimeBasilu did they try a different kind? My initial Botox didn’t work and I was told it was because it was one that was high or low protein (can’t remember which!) so the next time she used the opposite and I could see it working within 72 hours.

AssertiveGertrude · 01/05/2023 23:38

She’s getting more and more into her face as it’s quite distorted but I know others just look really beautiful and fresh (but no one admits to using it)

Delatron · 02/05/2023 10:57

Droopy eyes sounds like too much Botox which can cause the brow to drop. I had it once. Find someone with a light touch who under does you the first time - then you can always get more at your follow up.

I honestly find that although it is supposed to wear off at 3 months (and it looks like it has) mine always looks worse if I go that frequently so I leave a good 6 months in between now.

I've heard 6-8 months too, 3 months sounds excessive and just wanting profit.

sausage767 · 02/05/2023 11:08

Too much too low on your forehead may cause your brows to lower a little.

I have a bad dent right over one of my brows. A few months ago I had my injector really go to town on it which completely got rid of the dent, but did cause a bit of brow heaviness for a couple of months.

My advice is to be conservative the first time.

pfftt · 02/05/2023 11:50

3 months is pretty standard. It's worn off for most people by then.
Some people can get longer. Some unfortunately find it lasts less. Depends on how you metabolise.

OP there is a chance of a bruise. It isn't poor practitioner. Just sometimes a blood vessel gets nicked

BrightonBeach83 · 02/05/2023 11:58

Be prepared OP: no difference at all for at least a week. Then it goes the other way and you'll look a bit frozen - do not panic! This phase lasts a few days. After 2/3 weeks it will have settled and look lovely.

Farmageddon · 02/05/2023 11:58

Just wondering if you should go in without any makeup on? I'm planning on wearing sunscreen and a bit of powder as it's sunny today - is that ok?

I'm thinking of getting a small amount of filler done also.

Would I be able to cover it with a bit of make up afterwards? I'm worried about housemate asking questions, especially if there is bruising, as I haven't told anyone that I'm getting it.

BrightonBeach83 · 02/05/2023 13:45

@Farmageddon they will just wipe the area with alcohol wipe before they inject. Yeah I always take a concealer with me in case there are any red marks and I have to go back to work. Shouldn't be much though, and hardly noticeable.

Assert150 · 02/05/2023 13:46

Thanks for all the helpful advice @BrightonBeach83 and @pfftt - good to know re bruising.
