to see how op gets on.

Im turning into a bit of a hypocrite as I am really against the pressure to look perfect and young and alter ourselves to conform. I think as more people get work done, especially those that deny it or keep secret the more pressure it puts on others as they will be the only ones left with wrinkles etc. I mean why cant we be good enough as we are?
BUT now the 11 lines between my eyebrows are such deep furrows and there always not just when I frown that I really want to erase them. I am 43 and have no problem with a few crows feet or forehead lines but these furrows run deep and I cant unsee them. I actually really dislike the full on shiny protruding forehead look but all i read says only soln for 11s is botox.
Do I swallow my pride, admit Im a hypocrite and try it?
Has anyone else had it done just for 11s?
I know everyone says theirs is very subtle and no one notices but in reality there are so many in real life and on TV walking around with awful looking forheads and presumably they think they are lovely and natural as well?
Im really considering it but need reassurance that it will a. help and b. I wont look awful. Im not afraid of the procedure, just the results.
If I did do it I wouldn't hide it, I would let others know its not natural look or aging, and they could at least then compare on a fair footing if you know what I mean 😂.

I could have written this.. I feel like a big hypocrite. But the more people get it done, the more I look bad in comparison. I'm only 38 and my 11s are SO deep. I look unhappy all the time.
The shiny foreheads come from overdoing it. The subtle ones aren't noticeable.

Ohfgsjon · 02/05/2023 22:01

It's a miracle worker on the 11s. Just erases them. I've had it done just for my 11s for 20 years. I've had it done for horizontal forehead lines about 3 or 4 times in 20 years too but it's mainly been my 11s that I've not liked.

Assert150 · 02/05/2023 22:06

My appt is not till next week...if I don’t chicken out that is 😧

Now I’m probably just in denial but I’m not that bothered about my forehead - I don’t have too many horizontal lines (yet)...It’s more the rest of my face! Particularly the bags under my eyes 😥Starting to wonder if Botox is the way to go but would be even more reluctant to try fillers!

I have hideous crows feet but am in my late 50's so am trying to just accept it, very hard though

Doesn’t sound like Botox is the right treatment for you then. It definitely doesn’t do anything for bags under your eyes.

TheOGCCL · 02/05/2023 23:12

@Smallfry79 I did it the first time aged 43 on (just) my 11s. It’s not so much the looking older, it’s the looking tired and grumpy. I find it has a psychological effect too in that along with being happier with my appearance, I can’t frown which helps me be more cheerful. Weird but true. I just look fresher in a very subtle way. Also prevents further deepening. I’d actually rather spend my money on this than expensive skincare or haircuts.

I agree with the pp who said it’s better if you’re on the younger side just to tweak subtly. At some point it won’t make enough difference/ my face won’t all match and I’m not then going to go OTT with it. It’s about being good for age not looking unrealistically young for your age.

Ohfgsjon · 02/05/2023 23:31

Botox does nothing for under eye bags. You're looking at a lower bleph to treat them. It does nothing for jowls either, if that's what you're referring to about the rest of your face.

Smallfry79 · 03/05/2023 00:00

Good feedback for the 11s so! Thank you.
I guess the trick is, no matter what area you're looking at, to go as light and subtle as possible and hope you dont get sucked in to always wanting that little bit more.
For me, it's not necessarily an age thing, i dont feel i look all that old most of the time but the two lines are so deep i look cross or something.

It also seems best advice is to act early so maybe ive missed the boat 🤣

To the OP maybe its best to research a few professional non pushy clinnics near you and they can advise which actual treatment would best suit rather than just going for botox as its the most available and widely known.
Im sure some might do free consultation so would be nice to get a few opinions.

That or we need to learn to embrace change and learn to love and accept ourselves as we are. ( Im finding this harder not easier as time goes on 🤣)

Scarletthoo2 · 03/05/2023 00:01

I got it for my frown lines on my forehead. It stings when they inject the Botox itself but last maybe a second and it's so worth the money

I'd google 'botox models ' or 'botox courses' and find a reputable training centre near you? Where roughly are you, I might know one :) ?

Thanks so much! I'm in London

You won't see any difference after 2nd lot either. It's really painful AND a complete waste of time and money.

@Ohfgsjon i heard that can happen some people, think it depends on age and what kind of skin you have already. My friend got it done which prompted me because she looked so good, i couldnt put my finger on what it was and then when she told me i could see it straight away, doesnt get rid of lines but her skin was glowing and she definately looked more youthful. I noticed this before she told me. This was 2 weeks after the second, i hope i turn out like her, who knows. risk im willing to take, didnt find it painful but then i have had botox so used to the needle.

I understand it depends on the practitioner too. With Profilo it’s really important it’s injected at the right depth. If they get that wrong you won’t see results. I’ve had it quite a few times over the years (with different people) and sometimes I see I big difference and people comment. Other times it’s been disappointing.

Profhilo is one of those treatments that if I had all the money in the world I’d keep having. But it wears off quicker than they say (4 months not 6). So it’s very expensive, painful and can be hit and miss with results. Hence you hear some people rave about it and others say it did nothing.

hermioneee · 03/05/2023 13:19

Based on your other comments OP I'm not sure it's Botox you want. Botox stops movement in the muscles so it works on lines caused by movement - which is why it works so well on elevens and forehead lines - they're caused by expression.
Lines under the eyes, volume loss etc can't be solved by stopping muscle movement because it would look VERY weird to freeze the lower part of your face, and it's fleshier - wrinkles etc are caused by low collagen, less fat, and literal changes in your skull shape as you age.
Go to your appointment and tell them what it is you want to solve - a good practitioner will be able to advise.

GettingStuffed · 01/11/2024 16:38

Whilst you're getting Botox to hide lines on your face (why? they're a natural part of aging.) your neck ,hands and arms will be shouting out look at me I'm getting old. Don't you realise you're being shafted by a beauty industry which tells you you'll look old with wrinkles because they have products to sell.

What everyone else said! But I do have them put local anaesthetic on-I go to students (It's a lot cheaper!) and they can be a bit clumsy. Probably wouldn't do anaesthetic if I went to someone qualified with a lot of experience. It's magical-I am always much more confident once I've had it done.

You go to students and they’re a bit clumsy? I assume they’re closely supervised?

Yes they're supervised by a doctor at all times who is very careful and helicopters everything. I should've explained, by 'clumsy ' I meant, they sometimes take a few minutes getting the angle right to apply the injection, lean over me in a weird way,get a bit flustered. I didn't mean they accidentally stick the needle up my nose or something (& you have to be a medical professional of some sort to be on their course).
