Bare minerals replacement

HelpMeGetYouOut · 01/05/2023 13:31

I've been using Bare Minerals powder foundation for years. I'm very pale and "fairly light" is my shade.

I haven't been able to get it for ages as Bare Minerals are doing a rebrand and clearing old stock.

I bought some from Amazon which is clearly a knock off, but will "do" for now.

Does anyone have any recommendations for another brand I could try? Preferably one with a counter where I can get colour matched?

Thanks.

Jane Iredale make-up is quite similar as it is mineral based. I was colour matched in a local beautician (Ireland) but I've never seen it sold in any department stores.

Thanks @user1478299641 I'll take a look at this.

Bare Minerals has gone to shit these days! The quality (when you can actually get hold of it!) is terrible. I used the compact Bare Pro for years until they changed the formula and it was total crap. I reluctantly bought a MAC compact, and to be honest I’m impressed. I’m very fair with red patches, but I can’t stand liquid foundation. I like light powder coverage and it’s doing the job perfectly.

I have a MAC one, and its soooo annoying that it didnt come with a sponge! and nowhere to put one

I use lily lolo. Lighter coverage than bare minerals but buildable.

Having exactly the same issue as you, Op, with the same shade. I’ve worn it for nearly 20 years and now suddenly they’re not supplying it to the UK for months on end. It’s incredibly frustrating, as nothing else is as good.

Lily Lolo is a possibility, but it’s nowhere near as good. You need a ton more and a load more time to get the same coverage. Also, there’s no exact match to Fairly Light. Nearest is Barely Buff, but it looks nearer to Fairly Light with a bit of Candy Cane mixed in. I don’t want to have to buy two shades of something that isn’t as good….

I've managed to get it recently at a counter in boots, worth a check in bigger stores. Agree it's very annoying!

In desperation I got Estee Lauder sheer double wear when I couldn't get any 'fairly light' bare minerals. It is light for a liquid foundation and gives a similar coverage. They colour match at the counter too.

Oh great, some more replies! Thank you all.

This is all very useful.

I might get to a MAC counter and see if they can colour match me.
